John Conner, QB, 5-10, Class of 2022, Gateway STEM
Conner accounted for three touchdowns and two 2-point conversion runs in Gateway STEM’s 38-12 win over Miller Career Academy.
Conner opened the scoring with a 44-yard touchdown toss to Devon Johnson midway through the first quarter and then added a 6-yard scoring run with :58 seconds remaining in the frame. In the third quarter he connected with Herven Cogio for a 73-yard touchdown pass.
Conner accounted for the only points in Gateway’s 8-6 win over Roosevelt a week earlier, tossing a 56-yard touchdown pass to Kyle Jones and then scoring on a 2-point run.
Dennis Keyes, WR, 6-2, 168, Class of 2022, McCluer
Keyes established himself as a player to watch in his spring debut when he caught nine passes for 131 yards against Pattonville.
In Week 2, against Lift for Life, Keyes was even better. The junior wide receiver caught eight passes for 124 yards and two touchdowns to fuel the Comets’ 36-22 victory.
Micheal Hopkins, QB, 5-11, 188, Class of 2022, McCluer
The quarterback feeding Keyes the ball had a nice game himself against Lift for Life.
Hopkins completed 14 of 28 passes for 280 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for 21 yards, pushing him past the 300 total yards mark.
Hopkins has passed for 500 yards in McCluer’s first two games.
Kameron Gillespie Kameron Gillespie 5'11" | 185 lbs | WR McCluer | 2022 State MO , ATH, 5-11, 180, Class of 2022, McCluer
Gillespie is a solidly-built versatile athlete who can do a little bit of everything and he showed off his big-play ability in the victory against Lift for Life.
Gillespie, who lines up at wide receiver, running back and wildcat quarterback in addition to returning kicks, made his mark against Lift for Life when he caught two passes for 85 yards, scored a rushing touchdown and also returned a kickoff 75 yards for a touchdown.
