Here’s a quick look at who stood out in action from Friday’s and Saturday’s games…
Marcellus Griffin, QB, 5-9, 175, Sr., Ritenour
Ritenour’s converted running back ran wild against visiting McCluer North on Friday. He rushed for 183 yards and four touchdowns on just eight carries — he also had a long touchdown run called back on a holding penalty – and threw for 50 yards and a touchdown.
Micheal Hopkins Micheal Hopkins 6'0" | 170 lbs | QB McCluer | 2022 MO , QB, 5-11, 188, Jr., McCluer
Hopkins had another big day in his team’s big 32-27 win at Hazelwood Central.
Hopkins completed 19 of 30 passes for 322 yards and four touchdowns, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. That gives him 822 yards passing and six touchdowns through the Comets’ first three games this spring.
Dennis Keyes Dennis Keyes 6'2" | 170 lbs | WR McCluer | 2022 State MO , WR, 6-2, 168, Jr., McCluer
Another week, another impressive performance for Keyes.
Keyes has been Hopkins’ favorite target this spring and the dynamic duo have put up some remarkable statistics. On Saturday, in the win at Hazelwood Central, Keyes caught eight passes for 133 yards and a touchdown.
Through three games, Keyes now has 25 receptions for 388 yards and three scores.
Marquis Hawkins, WR, 6-2, 140, Sr., McCluer
Hawkins had a breakout game against Hazelwood Central, catching four passes for 123 yards and three touchdowns, all of which came in the second half.
Through the Comets’ first two games, Hawkins had five catches for 78 yards.
Logan Williams, QB, 6-3, 225, Sr., Pattonville
Williams has powered Pattonville to a 3-0 start using his arm and his legs. On Saturday, he completed nine of 14 passes for 95 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 76 yards on 16 carries in a 28-0 win over Hazelwood West.
For the season, Williams has completed 67 percent of his passes for 425 yards and four touchdowns and has rushed for 224 yards and three touchdowns.
Delvin Whittaker, WR-CB, 6-2, 175, Sr., Pattonville
Whittaker scored twice in Pattonville’s 28-0 win over Hazelwood West. He returned a punt 40 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter and caught a 12-yard touchdown pass from Williams in the fourth.
He caught four passes for 32 yards, both team highs on the day. For the season, Whittaker has 14 receptions for 140 yards and one touchdown and 12 tackles and one interception for his cornerback spot.
Elijah Fry Elijah Fry 5'11" | 195 lbs | ATH Ritenour | 2023 State MO , RB-LB, 5-10, 190, Soph., Ritenour
Fry made an impact on both sides of the ball in just his second varsity game.
Offensively, he rushed for 103 yards and two touchdowns on just six carries. Defensively, he recorded five tackles.
