Chris Shaw Chris Shaw 5'9" | 180 lbs | RB Damascus | 2021 State MD Damascus Class of 2021
Shaw is the definition of a smart runner. Shaw has good vision and can always find and get to the hole. Shaw also has great burst so when he finds and gets to the hole he’s able to accelerate through the hole get into the 2nd level and break long runs. Shaw is also great out of the backfield too, he is a good receiver and can make big plays out of simple checkdowns. Shaw has a fantastic offensive line to run behind, so expect him to put up big numbers this season.
Ian Griffin Ian Griffin 5'11" | 185 lbs | RB Walter Johnson | 2021 MD Northwest Class of 2021
Griffin is the complete package. Griffin finds open space and is able to get there with ease. Griffin is very tough to bring down and is able to make plays out of nothing. Griffin is very versatile not only is Griffin a great back but he can also line up in the slot and out wide and make an impact at receiver. Griffin is able to make plays in so many ways that he is a true offensive weapon. Griffin is the perfect prospect for coaches looking to add an offensive weapon to their team.
Aaron Jones Aaron Jones 5'10" | 210 lbs | RB Walter Johnson | 2021 State MD Walter Johnson Class of 2021
Jones is a freak, many would argue that he is clearly the best back in the county. Jones is a powerful runner that routinely breaks tackles. Jones is the perfect example of size and speed. Jones has fantastic size at 220 yet he still is able to outrun most defenders at the second and third level. Jones’s combination of size and speed allows him to be a true workhorse back as he is able to run inside and outside. Expect Walter Johnson to lean on Jones heavy, and expect Jones to make it look easy.
Baebaa Sayeh Watkins Mill Class of 2021
Sayeh is the most underrated back in the county. The tape shows Sayeh is every bit as good as everyone else on this list. Sayeh seemingly always knows where to go when he has the ball in his hands. He cuts and uses his jump cut to perfection to get where he needs to go. Sayeh runs hard and breaks arm tackles. He is also strong and is able to push the pile giving his team much-needed extra yards. The rumor is Watkins Mill may not field a team this season, and if that is true that is terrible news as Sayeh was poised to have a huge breakout season.
Edward Sirleaf Gaithersburg Class of 2021
Sirleaf is a true power back. Sirleaf breaks tackles and sheds guys off of him. Sirleaf does most of his work inside the tackles but when he gets to the second level he is able to find and get to the open space to break off long runs. Sirleaf’s power also doesn’t undermine his agility as despite being a power back Sirleaf is still able to move, cut, and make guys miss. Sirleaf may not put up flashy numbers but expect him to have another very productive season.
Aidan McCloskey Clarksburg Class of 2022
McCloskey flew under the radar last season. Clarksburg ran a triple-option offense that spread the ball around not allowing for anybody to put up very big numbers. Despite that McCloskey made the most of his touches. McCloskey is every coach’s dream as he runs North-South and straight downfield. He is not afraid of contact and fights for extra yards. He also switches the field well and is able to break off long runs when he does. Hopefully, Clarksburg utilizes McCloskey more this season which will allow him to have a true breakout season.
