With the delayed start, players are eager to play and show how they have grown from the 2019 season. Here are four players to watch in the Howard County restart.
Enosh Minney, Wilde Lake, 5’11″ 170 lbs, OLB/WR, 2022
Enosh put up great numbers on defense as a sophomore for Wilde Lake. With 61 tackles (8 TFL) and 3.5 sacks, he looks like a great candidate to come out of the restart with a lot of momentum going into his senior year. On defense, Enosh meets blockers head-on and can use his quickness to shed them and make tackles. He looks comfortable in pass coverage and has the quickness to get downhill on outside runs and underneath throws. On offense, he looks comfortable making catches in traffic and attacking the ball. This spring should see him get more opportunities in the offense. Enosh has the potential to come out of this restart with rising stock in the eyes of college coaches.
Alex Willis Alex Willis 6'5" | 305 lbs | OL Long Reach | 2023 State MD , Long Reach, 6’6″ 305 lbs, OL, 2023
Currently #8 in our Maryland Player Rankings, Alex has the potential to be one of the best players in Maryland. As a freshman, he played multiple positions along the offensive line. What stands out is Alex’s ability to move at 6’6″ 305. This shows up when he is asked to pull. Willis does a good job maintaining leverage out of his stance, and running does not seem to be an issue. He also flashes the ability to consistently put defensive players on their backs. This restart is a great chance for him to show his growth as a lineman. If he can show growth from his first season, then he will start solidifying himself as one of Maryland’s next top prospects.
Casey Pung, Marriotts Ridge, 6’2″ 170 lbs, QB, 2022
Casey looks like a good, under-the-radar QB for Marriotts Ridge. He put up good number in 2019 with 60% completion, over 740 yards, and 10 TDs. What stood out the most was the ball placement on his throws. On-the-run, he looked extremely comfortable throwing. Whether in the pocket or on-the-run, he consistently put the ball where only his guy could catch it. When he steps into his throws, he can get good velocity on them to beat tight coverage. With a good showing this spring, Casey has the chance to shows coaches how he developed from 2019 to now.
Praise Bright Praise Bright 5'8" | 180 lbs | RB Centennial | 2022 MD , Centennial, 5’9″ 195 lbs, RB, 2022
The name of the game for Praise is speed. The burst he shows in the middle of the field is one of the best in the Howard County conference. He has no issue running through the middle of the defense. They must get a hand on him before he hits the 2nd-level. The issue is that even if you get into the backfield, Praise has the ability the avoid the first defender and get positive yardage. The confidence Praise plays with is what makes him an intriguing player to watch. This gives him a great opportunity to have a major role in the offense, and prove he can is the man going into the Fall 2021 season.
