Co-QB MVP: Demond Williams Demond Williams 5'11" | 180 lbs | QB Basha | 2024 State AZ , 2024, Basha
The top 2024 QB prospect in the state with seven D1 offers to his name so far. He’s an exceptional athlete that can make plays both through the air and on the ground. Great footwork and throwing mechanics with a live arm capable of making high velocity throws at any depth. He has a great ability manipulate the pocket, avoid pressure, and make accurate throws on the run to either direction. Similar playing style to Kyler Murray, he’s an exciting player to watch.
Co-QB MVP: Giordan Hanks, 2024, Mountain View
Hanks was one of the most talked about players amongst scouts and coaches after the camp. He has a great feel for the position and it shows with his timing and anticipation. The ball jumps out of his hand with high velocity on short/intermediate routes but also shows he can mix up velocities and throw the deep ball with touch. Very calm presence and demeanor in the pocket with smooth mechanics and footwork. Surprisingly under recruited at this point with his D1 talent and ability.
RB MVP: Elias Roberts, 2023, Salpointe Catholic
Explosive quick twitch athlete with good game speed and elusiveness. He showed good burst, acceleration, and change-of-direction in positional drills. Good balanced ball carrier that makes quick lateral cuts and is very precise with his movement. Also showed good hands and route running ability out of the backfield. Will be interesting to see how he puts it on tape as he progresses in the Salpointe offense.
WR MVP: Jordan Huff, 2022, Mountain Pointe
Long and lean frame at almost 6’3” with a large catch radius. He’s a plus athlete with great body control and hands to make acrobatic catches. Strong burst off the LOS with good top end speed to stretch the field vertically. Capable of making explosive plays after the catch. Also a very strong stalk blocker on the outside.
OL MVP: Joe Brown, 2022, Lone Peak (UT)
Severely under recruited to this point given his size, talent, and potential. Great build for a college level interior OL at 6’4” 280 lbs. with room to add weight. Good natural strength and power at the POA. He has a great ability to isolate one on one and win those matchups with a combination of good technique and natural talent. Good athleticism, he flashed good feet, bend, and lateral agility throughout position drills. He’s a finisher that plays with a mean streak. One of the most slept on recruits in Utah.
LB MVP: Quinlan Popham Quinlan Popham 6'3" | 215 lbs | LB Estrella Foothills | 2021 State AZ , 2021, Estrella Foothills
The 2021 grad was the region Defensive Player of the Year, finishing with 88 tackles, 4.5 sacks, and 2 FF. He plays fast and physical flying around the field making plays sideline to sideline. He plays extremely well with his eyes making quick decisive reads to put himself in position to make a play. Strong and sure tackler in the open field he does a great job in pursuit and drives his legs through contact. Scouts loved his lateral mobility and short area burst to close space on the ball carrier.
DL MVP: Tom Turpin, 2022, Bonneville (UT)
Turpin is quick and explosive off the ball. He showed great command and execution of a variety of DL moves in drills. Very active and efficient hands. Good speed and acceleration off the edge to quickly beat a blocker and rush the QB. Strong tackler that is violent at the contact point.
DB MVP: Cruz Rushing, 2022, Salpointe Catholic
Rushing was another guy that made a name for himself among scouts and coaches. Possesses a long athletic frame with track speed, competes in 100m, 200m, and 400m. Quick feet with very good change of direction and fluid hips. Shows great leg drive out of his transition to close space. Strong ball skills with the ability to track and adjust to ball flight. Good foundational skillset with a ton of upside and potential.
