New Jersey’s Most Recruited 2023 Football Prospects: Part 1 of 2
Prep Redzone prides itself on finding the hidden gems of New Jersey High School football. Today, we’ll be looking at players that have created that buzz for themselves on the recruiting scene. This two-part series will feature prospects that have at least one offer. It’s fresh in the game for this recruiting class, but there’s a bunch of talent in this class not on the radar. Here are a few 2023 prospects that are making the most noise right now in New Jersey. (Part 1 of 2).
Jasire Peterson Ι 6-5 Ι 270 Ι Offensive Tackle Ι Union City HS
Peterson committed to Rutgers on Jan. 1, 2021. Simply put: he’s a beast on the field. Granted, he’s usually the biggest player on the field. That being said, he dominates his opponent with a combination of technique and power. I’m impressed by the way he’s able to get to the second level and block linebackers. Kudos to Rutgers for being able to land one of the top in-state prospects in its 2023 recruiting class.
Jimmy Mullen Ι 6-2 Ι 245 Athlete Ι St. Joseph’s Regional HS
Mullen’s lone offer is from Rutgers. He plays both the tight end and defensive end positions. Right now, he is an undersized defensive end prospect. Mullen should get more Division I offers as the recruiting process plays itself out.
Kahlil Ali Ι 6-1 Ι 175 Ι Safety Ι Pennsauken HS
One of the top defensive players in the class was also one of the top offensive players in his class this past season. He caught 25 passes for 550 yards and eight touchdowns. It’s hard to ignore his offensive production. But, he’ll be playing safety at the next level. There are a few highlights of his winning battles in the red zone. Ali has offers from Boston College, Florida State, Maryland, Miami, Michigan State, Nebraska, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, and West Virginia.
Ali’s 10-plus offers include Boston College, Florida State, Maryland, Miami (FL), and Michigan State.
Marco Lainez Marco Lainez 6'3" | 225 lbs | QB The Hun School | 2023 State NJ Ι 6-3 Ι 220 Ι Quarterback Ι The Hun School
Lainez has an offer from Iowa, UMass, Michigan State, Penn, Pittsburgh, and Princeton.
Lainez played in only four games this past season because of COVID-19. In those four games, he showed to be a skilled passer. I am fascinated with how quick he sets up in the pocket and scans the field. Lainez completed 60-out-of-81 passes for 1,098 yards, ten touchdowns, and three interceptions. He’s not susceptible to making mistakes when passing the football. Lainez completed 75% of his passes during the 2020 season. He has an offer from both Massachusetts and Princeton.
Moussa Kane Ι 6-1 Ι 180 Ι Athlete Ι Blair Academy Ι 2023
Kane has an offer from Purdue. He’s also getting some interest from Maryland, Princeton, Rice, Rutgers, Clemson, Penn State, Oregon, and Stony Brook. Kane previously played at Christ The King before transferring to Blair Academy.
Nasir Addison Ι 6-2 Ι 175 Ι Wide Receiver Ι Irvington
Addison caught 16 passes for 279 yards and one touchdown in six games during his sophomore year campaign. He’s a big target that isn’t afraid to make the tough catches across the middle. He’s a strider that devours up the cushion of defensive backs. Addison has offers from Maryland, Massachusetts, Syracuse, and Temple.
Addison has offers from Maryland, UMass, and Temple. Rutgers is also keeping tabs on him.
Robert Long Ι 6-1 Ι 198 Ι Quarterback St. Peter’s Prep
Long has offers from Old Dominion and Temple.
Sydir Mitchell Ι 6-5 Ι 290 Ι 285 Ι Defensive Tackle Ι Bergen Catholic Ι 2023
Mitchell is an unmovable force on the defensive line. Mitchell will soar into elite status as a prospect as he develops more moves and gets quicker off the ball.
Rutgers, Arizona State, Arkansas, Boston College, and Florida State are among Mitchell’s 10-plus offers.
