While the season unfortunately ended due to a 28-21 loss to Fannin County last November, there were plenty of things to begin to get excited about in regards to their football program, and it’s trajectory entering into the 2021 season. To start, there is plenty of young talent on the team, who’s full ability has yet to bloom. As these players enter into next season, they will likely be doing so with a chip on their shoulder, and their eyes set on a state championship. Below, we have listed a few of our favorite players who will be returning for the knights.
MJ Morris- QB
Knights fans should be excited at the fact that Morris will be returning to their team next season as their QB. Physically, he has the intangibles to be a game changing QB for his team. Not only does he have a quick release, and the ability to push the ball down the field, but he also proves to have great ball placement, and touch on his passes. His arm is decently strong, but his decision making, and ability to play through his progressions is what sets him apart. This makes the difference for his team as he makes throws at different levels of the field. With this, Morris’ pocket presence is also very strong, and he proves to be able to make key throws in the face of pressure, and under duress. His footwork can be a bit choppy at times, but we love how he slides around the pocket, and keeps his shoulders square. Expect him to have a great season in 2021.
Deuce Jordan- ATH
Johnson, who is a bit of a smaller WR/ RB prospect, makes up for it in his aggressive play. Not only does he have a very good twitch, and burst, but he has the ability to turn any small play into a big gain, even in the midst of traffic. Along with this, Jordan also shows that he can run polished short routes, and that his speed can take him home. His hands, and ability to catch the ball cleanly is what also sets him apart, as well as his ability to line up in the backfield and make key receptions, and runs when needed. Overall, Jordan is an all purpose player, and we certainly believe that he will continue to be used in this regard next season, as he will look to help his team increase their chances of going to the playoffs again.
Hevin Brown-Shuler- DT
Brown-Shuler, who is a 2024 prospect, is already a force to be reckoned with as a pass rusher, and run stopper. Not only does he fire off of the ball well, but he plays with good leverage, and explosive ability. This allows for him to be a continuous match up problem for opposing linemen. Hevin’s use of hands and quick feet allow him to maneuver well within the trenches, and get to the passer. Paired with this, Hevin also has a great weight, size, and frame for his age already. This certainly sets him apart, and will only continue to be a strength for him moving forward as he continues to use this to his strength. Hevin also delivers a great pop on contact, and uses his length to make key tackles as he looks to fill holes and stop the run. Look for him to continue to receive attention in the recruiting world.
Jordan Sloan- RB
Sloan, who can be viewed to be an all around threat at the RB position, proves to have the quickness, burst, and twitch that you look for in a back. This can be seen in the way he reads the holes as they open, and sticks his foot in the ground to get vertical. He is good at fighting for yardage, and picking up the necessary yards, even if it means finding a way to turn tight corners. Along with this, he also has great hands, and an ability to make plays and receptions out of the backfield. This will continue to create match up problems for opposing defenses, while also making him such a key strength for the Knights.
