When I looked thru the roster on Hudl of the Raiders today, I saw a ton of potential to look forward to over the next coming years, especially from the Class of 2023. Take a look at the roster breakdown on the up-and-coming Roseville Raiders.
2022s
Hayden Pierce, SB/FS (2022)
When the football is in Pierce’s hands in the slot-back position, he shows a big burst that can get them outside and do some damage in the Raider’s rushing attack. Pierce shows quality footwork on his runs that won’t juke every defender out of their shoes but has some elusiveness to his game with his feet. Pierce can develop a better dig in his feet in the receiving core. In my eyes, Pierce is at his best when he has already hit the gas vs. on-screen routes where he has to use his feet to get free.
Tylir Brookins, RB (2022)
Holy cow, does this kid have an excellent burst. There is not a doubt in my mind that Tylir the fastest player on this Raiders roster by far. He does a fantastic job on the inside rushing lanes getting yards after contact even though he could easily use his acceleration to break to the outside, but that’s what makes him a fantastic runner. He’s willing to get the more challenging yards. He’s not the biggest player when it comes to measurables, but his speed sets him apart. Brookins is the little brother of Northern Iowa assistant Keelon Brookins, so he has excellent football genes.
Jamal Thomas, ATH (2022)
2023s
Isaiah Brown Isaiah Brown 6'3" | 200 lbs | QB Roseville | 2023 State MN , QB (2023)
With Ryan Weber Ryan Weber WR Sibley East | 2021 State MN and Kidus Belete Kidus Belete 6'1" | QB Roseville | 2021 State MN on to the college level as quarterbacks, Isaiah Brown Isaiah Brown 6'3" | 200 lbs | QB Roseville | 2023 State MN will have some fun shoes to fill as the potential QB1 for the Raiders. What I liked about Brown’s sophomore tape was how precise he was on his throws giving his receivers a quality amount of running room to catch up with the football. He has significant deep ball arm strength and shows pretty good touch on the ball when it goes that far too. When Brown leaves the pocket, he doesn’t shay away from contact despite being having a slimmer frame at quarterback. His precision from my eyes gets even better when he’s in the red zone eyeing up the Raiders for a touchdown.
Eh Moo, DB/LB (2023)
Despite a more petite frame, Moo gets pretty physical contact on the more prominent ball carriers he’s tackling. Moo has a solid motor and can cover some ground in the secondary. I do think from a development standpoint; Moo will need to work on getting faster foot speed, as he may not have enough at the moment to cut it at the next level.
Daniel Tschida, LB, Roseville (2023)
Tschida is by far one of my favorite finds of this afternoon scouting film. He has an absolute loaded motor and gets an excellent first step off the snap of the football. Tschida is another radar that can cover some depth at linebacker too. His physicality on his tackles is the best I have seen on this Roseville roster. He also has good measurables (6’1 210) for the next level already at LB. From my eyes, Tschida is the highest scholarship-level player coming out of Roseville’s Class of 2023.
Jaidyn Belton, WR (2023)
Belton is another wide receiver I liked coming out of Roseville. Belton has some good shifty feet that can grab him some extra yardage. He also has a good range of motion in his stretch when grabbing for the football. With a bit of development with a speed coach, Belton could add more burst when he’s in transition when he has the football.
Trevin Holt, LB (2023)
Holt, from my eyes, could use a little work on his technique as far as his stance goes. Besides that development in his game, this kid is quite solid when reading the offense and using his excellent football IQ to attack the ball carrier.
Cassidy Lee, SB/ATH (2023)
Lee is the next-up slotback from their Raiders offense. He’s not nearly as big as Pierce but has an excellent burst and has solid stamina to stay the course with his speed. Lee uses that same speed and good football instincts as a defensive back when he closes in on a wide receiver from behind with his burst that the WR might not have seen coming. Lee may see more reps in the coming years at slotback for the Raiders.
Marike Acosta, DL (2023)
Hector Jacobo, LB (2023)
Jacobo does well gobbling up the backfield in the heart of the inside rushing lanes. He seems to show a good physicality level when he makes his tackles, from what I have seen. Jacabo, from my eyes, needs more springs in his legs to get from point A to point B on the football field.
Louis Ebe-Ndie, DL (2023)
Ebe-Ndie came off as one of the best defensive linemen from the Roseville Class of 2023. He has a remarkable ability to shed off blocks quickly without much effort. On the hog molly side of the ball, Ebe-Ndie can multi-punch at a more substantial rate once he’s making his way up that second level.
Michael Cutter, FB/LB (2023)
Cutter is one of those undersized fullbacks you see all over Minnesota. He has decent speed at fullback but could develop more reps as far as becoming a blocking fullback goes. At linebacker, he shows a solid initial step and is highly active in the backfield. He’ll need to go crazy in the weight room in the coming seasons to get a next-level opportunity.
Jamonte Coleman, DB (2023)
Coleman’s ability to come in from deep and crash into the inside rushing lanes make him one of the best defensive backs in this Class of 2023, from my eyes. He also can lay the wood with some intense physicality in his tackling ability. He also will be an asset next year in the Raider’s return game, as he shows a consistent burst when the ball is in his hands. If Coleman can continue working on his crafty in the Raiders secondary, he has a chance to play at the next level in a few years.
Tsimnuj Lee, OL/DL (2023)
Dyvonte Clinton, RB/LB (2023)
Carl Figgins, LB (2023)
Figgins is another hockey player at linebacker for the Raiders. With that being said, it’s easy to tell where this kid learned how to lay the wood with his high physicality level on his tackles. I am a fan of how solid Figgins motor is constantly crashing vigorously into the opponent’s backfield. I see the only knock for development in Figgins’s game is his stamina when the offense gets deep into the Raider’s secondary. As a hockey player, I don’t see that much of an adjustment to make in the coming years.
Isaac Ivy Isaac Ivy 6'0" | 170 lbs | WR Roseville | 2023 State MN , WR/DB (2023)
Ivy looks to be the best WR in this Class of 2023 at Roseville. When he’s running downhill on you on a deep route, have fun because his ability to accelerate is fantastic. Ivy also does an excellent job bringing in passes from his QB that might be slightly off the mark, but he can adjust easily. One of the best pass-catchers I saw in this class when it comes to pulling in the heavily contested balls. There is something about the grit from this Class of 2023 at Roseville, as Ivy adds to my list of just plain physical players on the defensive side of these Raiders.
