DeMatha outlasted St. John’s 17-7 in a defensive battle this past Friday night. Both offenses struggled to get going all game, and the major takeaway from the contest was the defensive prowess of both teams up front, on the defensive lines, and in the secondaries. We will now look back at the performances of our key players who we also analyzed in our pre-game preview.

While he had a nice touchdown pass, Cam struggled to get going in the first half and it was largely because of Isaiah Smith Isaiah Smith 6'4" | DL St. John's | 2022 State MD and the elite St. John’s defensive line. The Cadet secondary also locked down DeMatha’s receivers for the most part. In the second half, however, Edge was able to complete a few much needed throws that he was missing earlier on which led to a Stags’ victory. Overall, Cam would be the first one to tell you that he didn’t play his best game, but it’s also necessary to tip your cap to the St. John’s defense because they were able to make it a low scoring affair.
