The highly anticipated matchup between two unbeaten teams featured Rolesville’s high-powered offense against Wake Forest’s Defense. My opinion was that the game would be tightly contested for four quarters. We were in for a surprise once the game started:
Rolesville HS started on offense at the start of the game. Byrum Brown Byrum Brown 6'3" | QB Rolesville | 2022 State NC , Rolesville QB threw a short pass to Noah Rogers, WR, who juked the defensive back and sprinted along the sideline to the end zone for the first score. Byrum Brown Byrum Brown 6'3" | QB Rolesville | 2022 State NC second possession on offense was a long ball throw to Jaedyn Fulton, WR, who sprinted into the end zone for the second score. Byrum threw a combination of short and medium range passes, mixed with running (16/28 for 270 yards, 2 INT’s, 2 TD’s and 12 carries for 101 yards). Rolesville’s big offensive line led by Jesiah Henderson Jesiah Henderson 6'4" | OL Rolesville | 2022 State NC controlled the line of scrimmage throughout the contest. Jesiah Henderson Jesiah Henderson 6'4" | OL Rolesville | 2022 State NC is a big, quick lineman who has made several pancake blocks. The offensive line has done a great job of protecting Byrum Brown Byrum Brown 6'3" | QB Rolesville | 2022 State NC and allowing him to displays his skills as an accurate passer and runner. Rolesville offense kept Wake Forest out of sync with mixing up running plays with their quick and speedy running backs. Noah Rogers made several catches in traffic and was difficult to defend in man-coverage. Jaedyn Fulton is a speedy receiver who made several athletic catches throughout the game. A dominating win and first in the school’s history against Wake Forest.
Wake Forest quarterback was constantly pressured into throwing hurried passes which fell short of the intended receivers. Wake Forest’s offensive line lost the battle up front and was overpowered by Rolesville’s defensive line. Wake Forest quarterback was sacked several times throughout the game. Wake Forest offensive unit was unable to generate much offense throughout the contest. Michael Dispasquale, RB, who is a quick, slashing-style runner was able to gain some yards against the Rolesville defense.
