Prep Redzone Oklahoma was on hand for the Sooner7 Classic 7v7 tournament in Broken Arrow over the weekend. We saw some outstanding football from start to finish and starting today and continuing over the next few days, we’ll be highlighting some of the top performers from the action we saw first hand. We continue our breakdowns with a look at three players who had breakout weekends and became names that you should remember going into the rest of the offseason. It wasn’t planned but we had one junior, one sophomore and one freshman make the list. Be sure to stay locked into the website for more coverage from the Sooner7 Classic and as always you can follow us on Twitter for all the latest in high school football in Oklahoma. @PrepRedzoneOK

– 2024 Quarterback – Tahlequah
Sooner7 15U
Our first breakout performer was Tahlequah freshman quarterback Brody Younger Brody Younger 6'4" | QB Tahlequah | 2024 OK , who was one of two quarterbacks for Sooner7’s 15U team. We saw a lot of this team early on in pool play on Saturday morning and Younger certainly looks the part of a prototypical pocket passer. He’s tall, has a good arm and can fit the ball into windows that most freshmen aren’t ready for. We were really impressed with both quarterbacks from the 15U team but Younger is already in high school and has a chance to develop into a really big athlete. Younger showcased his ability to throw on the run. And more impressive than that was the fact that he would roll to the left and as a right-handed quarterback, he didn’t lose much accuracy on those throws. This was our first time seeing Younger and while he’s not a polished product right now, this weekend was a good breakout performance for him and we’re looking forward to seeing how he grows from here.
Camden McCrary

– 2022 Quarterback – Bixby
Sooner7 Blue
We stay at the quarterback position with Bixby junior quarterback Camden McCrary Camden McCrary 6'1" | 175 lbs | QB Bixby | 2022 State OK . He suited up for Sooner7 Blue, which was the third Sooner7 18U team to play this weekend. McCrary split the quarterback reps with another QB throughout the tournament. That’s typical for Sooner7 teams as they always have two quarterbacks and split the series between the two guys. However, Sooner7 Blue was at their best, at least when we saw them in person, when McCrary was leading the way on offense. McCrary was very efficient with the football and made the most of his opportunities. The majority of series that McCrary was in at quarterback ended with a touchdown. With Mason Williams Mason Williams 5'10" | QB Bixby | 2021 State OK graduating, that leaves an open spot at QB1 for Bixby this fall. McCrary had a strong performance this weekend and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him take over that role in the 2021 season.

– 2023 Cornerback – Bixby
Sooner7 ’23
Staying with Bixby and our final breakout performer and only non-quarterback on the list is defensive back Tyson Williams Tyson Williams 6'1" | DB Bixby | 2023 State OK . The sophomore was a lockdown corner for Sooner7’s 2023 squad throughout the tournament on both days. In our top performer article, we mentioned Coweta’s Mason Ford Mason Ford 5'11" | DB Coweta | 2023 State OK playing really well at the CB position. However, Ford was only able to play on Sunday. Williams was a lockdown corner on Saturday and Sunday and when he and Ford were both on the field, opposing teams were really limited with what they could do with the ball. Williams did a good job staying with his opponents but also picking the right times to switch on crossing routes. Williams showcased excellent ball skills and whenever he got one hand on it, he could usually get both hands on it for a turnover. We were impressed with Williams from start to finish and expect to see more of that over the next few months.
