There were some thrilling games in week one to kickoff the spring football season with a bang.
Below are five of the top receiving performances that happened in week one in Southern California.
Here were the top passing performances in Southern California.
Here were the top rushing performances in Southern California.
Travis Ehman, Orange Glen, 2021
The game between Orange Glen and Santa Fe Christian had one of those box scores that makes you wish you were at the game. Orange Glen lost 81-54 and the ball was thrown all over the place. Ehman was the beneficiary of Orange Glen’s passing attack, catching 13 balls for 211 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He doesn’t get a lot of scouting attention because of his size, but he is a great high school player and will put up big numbers this season.
Josiah Lamarque, Newport Harbor, 2024
Freshman don’t often make an impact in a league as competitive in the Sunset League but with the extra time in the offseason to lift weights and workout, it’s almost like they are just young sophomores. Lamaque was the most impactful skill player in the game between Yorba Linda and Newport Harbor which is impressive. He had seven catches for 159 yards, including a 76-yard touchdown. The Sailors may have found a gem on their roster for years to come.

Tetairoa McMillan Tetairoa McMillan 6'4" | 185 lbs | WR Servite | 2022 State CA , Servite, 2022
The best receiver in the state for the 2022 class had a great showing in his junior season debut against Damien. McMillan caught eight passes for 161 yards and a touchdown. He had been getting rave reviews in camps, club football and 7-on-7 leagues this offseason and his skills translate well to actual football. He and Noah Fifita Noah Fifita 5'10" | 175 lbs | QB Servite | 2022 State CA are the best quarterback and receiver tandem in the state in my opinion.
Tetairoa McMillan is a matchup nightmare. His second TD catch of the night makes it 17-13 Mission Viejo. PAT no good. 8:42 left in the 3rd. pic.twitter.com/sfbQu4JtgQ

Bryson Reeves Bryson Reeves 6'2" | 195 lbs | ATH St. Francis | 2021 State CA , St. Francis (La Canada), 2021
Reeves and sophomore quarterback Jack Jacobs Jack Jacobs 6'5" | 220 lbs | QB St. Francis - La Canada | 2023 State CA may be one of the better quarterback and receiver tandems in Southern California. Reeves caught nine passes for 164 yards and three touchdowns in a win over Mira Costa. He was five yards short of a 1,000 yard season last year and plays both ways. He has offers from Boise State, BYU, Fresno State, San Jose State, Utah State and Vanderbilt among others.
Week 1 in the books! 3tds in a great team win! #BondsStrong @Throw_2_Win @GregBiggins @RyanWrightRNG @James_Escarcega @Utah_Football pic.twitter.com/ZkRWdlVh0n

Jake Romero, Fullerton, 2021
Romero is a coaches dream. He is a 4.0 GPA student with a 1260 SAT who brings that academic work ethic to the football field. He caught eight passes for 100 yards and two touchdowns. Romero is committed to Arizona Christian University and will be a key part in Fullerton’s hopes of winning the City Championship.

Thomas Southey, Mira Costa, 2021
In the same game as Reeves was an unrecruited receiver for Mira Costa named Thomas Southey. Southey caught 12 passes for 192 yards and four touchdowns. He makes plays after the catch and finds holes in zone coverage. Southey is very fast and has offers from Bates College and Pacific University and might break 4.5 int he forty this time next year.
You rarely see a hitch go for a 53 yd TD.
Unrecruited Thomas Southey of Mira Costa with one of his 10 catches for over 200 yds and 4 TD’s vs St Francis.
