Running backs and even some quarterbacks put on some impressive performances for their teams in Southern California this past week.
Below is a list of the top rushing performances in Southern California from week two.
Eddie Allain, Norte Vista, 2022
I named Allain the top sleeper rusher early in the offseason and he picked up right where he left off last season. He rushed for 161 yards on just 12 carries with five touchdowns. The five touchdowns were the most in the Southern Section for the week and even though Norte Vista played a weaker Patriot team, it’s still impressive. His fellow running back Jessie Carvajal had a huge game as well and rushed for 168 yards on six carries with three touchdowns. Allain rushed for nearly 2000 yards as a sophomore and is being recruited by Fresno State.
Congratulations sophomore running back Eddie Allain for making first team all CIF also MVP offensive Player of the year for the river valley league he rushed for 1984 yards scored 36 touchdowns as a freshman also scored 24 touchdowns his first two years he has scored 60 TDS pic.twitter.com/sr1Dp3YcjY

Amir Bankhead Amir Bankhead 5'9" | 190 lbs | RB Paraclete | 2021 State CA , Paraclete, 2021
His numbers weren’t gaudy like some running backs, but Bankhead gets points for being the best player on the field in a close game against a good program. He rushed for 159 yards on 29 carries and had a touchdown in the Spirits’ 24-13 win against Aquinas of San Bernardino. Bankhead was the best underclassman running back in CIF-SS Division 3 last season and he runs hard for his size. He put on 20 pounds this offseason, sees the field really well and has an offer from Colorado.
After Paraclete’s second TD, Andre Hunt gets an interception on Moorpark’s ensuing possession. Sets up an 8-yard TD pass from Brevin White to Amir Bankhead. Paraclete balloons the lead to 21-7, 2mins left in 2nd. @ParacleteFB pic.twitter.com/k6MMLPt8FV

Freddy Fletcher, Cajon, 2022
Fletcher was the player of the game for Cajon in its 30-18 win over Yucaipa last week. The junior running back rushed for 252 yards on 26 carries with two touchdowns. He also had a 49-yard reception and converted four two-point conversions for the Cowboys. He rushed for 1,277 yards as a sophomore with 12 touchdowns. Fletcher participated in a showcase this past offseason and will likely garner some recruiting attention after this short season.
Donovan Harvey, Elsinore, 2022
It’s extremely rare to see a player eclipse 300 yards in a single game as a rusher or receiver. That feat was accomplished in week two by Harvey who rushed for 333 yards on 15 carries with four touchdowns. The performance was likely a school-record for single-game rushing yards for Elsinore. The Elsinore team rushed for 491 yards in a 46-6 win over Lakeside. Harvey had 9 yards per carry in limited playing time as a sophomore last season but is likely poised for a breakout junior season which may lead to some offers.
Final score here in Tigers stadium… 46-6 Tigers!! The Mayor’s Trophy comes home!! @SportswithPep @PEcom_preps @CallMeEPJ pic.twitter.com/p8Zen3waCV

Troy Leigber, Laguna Hills, 2023
Laguna Hills is a program that has done a fantastic job keeping great players from legacy families at their school in this age of nonstop transfers. The Hawks had Mitch Leigber Mitch Leigber 6'1" | 205 lbs | DB Laguna Hills | 2021 State CA who opted out of his senior year to stay healthy for his college career at Stanford. No worry, his younger bother Troy is on the job. He rushed for 224 yards on 17 carries with a touchdown. He also caught five passes for 76 yards and a pair of touchdowns in his sophomore debut.
@troyleigber 224 yards rushing on 17 carries, 76 yards receiving on 5 receptions. 300 yds total offense and 3 TD's vs. University last night. @ocvarsityguy @ocvarsity @latsondheimer @SteveFryer @CoachMikeCU pic.twitter.com/lBgDNpUwuq

Lucky Sutton, Cathedral Catholic, 2022
Sutton is one of the best class of 2022 running backs in Southern California. Cathedral Catholic has outscored its opponents this season 90-0 which gives Sutton a lot of opportunities to showcase his ability running the ball. He rushed for 123 yards on just 14 carries which is nearly 9 yards per carry. He scored three touchdowns and had a 28-yard reception. Sutton has offers from Colorado State, Nevada, San Diego State and San Jose State.
