Here are a few linemen in South Georgia who are starting to see their recruitment take off…
Zavian Hardy – Tattnall Square
After an excellent showing at the MVP camp in Valdosta over the weekend, the Macon native earned his first offer, and it was a big one from the in-state Georgia Bulldogs. The jumbo 6-foot-5 235-pound ATH can play on both sides of the ball but will likely play on the edge at the next level as he continues to add weight and develop his craft over the next two years. What stands out the most about Hardy is his raw athleticism for someone his size. He’s big and fast enough to play some tight end, but his explosiveness and burst off the line of scrimmage should make him a fast-riser in the 2023 rankings over the next few months. He’s a dominant player in the private-school region in Middle Georgia and has the film to back up the early hype. Look for Hardy to see more offers come his way over the next few weeks.
Devin McRae – Telfair County
When you see McRae in the face, it’s easy to see that he’s a young teenager, but you’d never know that watching his sophomore film. He plays mostly on the offensive line, but he’s also one of the top young defensive line prospects in all of South Georgia. He has raw athleticism with a great frame at 6-foot-4 270-pounds who plays with a mean streak. He has long arms, shows good balance, and moves well for his size. He plays until the whistle as an offensive tackle and at times has the ability to throw around older defenders. Even as a sophomore, McRae was consistently one of the bigger, better prospects in the region. He has some early interest from Arkansas and Georgia State, but as he continues to develop, especially on the defensive line, he should see his recruitment start to really take off. McRae has a chance to be one of the top 2023 offensive or defensive line prospects in the state over the next 24 months.
Ks’Shawn Thomas – Brunswick
Size and burst. That’s what you’re getting with the interior defensive lineman from South East Georgia. The Brunswick run-stuffer is coming off an excellent 2020 season where he proved to be a dominant force in the middle of the defensive line. He’s not the largest defensive lineman at 6-foot-3 260-pounds, but he’s strong at the point of attack and quicker than most realize. He consistently finds his way into the backfield and knows how to attack the passer from his interior position. He knows how to take on a double team and can shed those blocks occasionally. He’s a natural as a run defender and can shoot the gaps in order to clog running lanes between the tackles. He holds an early offer from South Carolina but others may not be far behind.
