There was a lot of talent from the surrounding states, these are the athletes that are prone to having a breakout season to A) Get offers at a higher level or B) Get their names out there to get their first offers in the coming years. For the 23’s and 24’s, they are players that with further development could play at the next level given they put in the work to get there. Below are the players from The Line Showcase with the potential to have a breakout season.
22’s:
Mack Indestad Mack Indestad 6'6" | 265 lbs | OL Lemont | 2022 State IL 22′ OG 6’6 260 Lemont Twitter
Indestad is like many other IL players that need this spring’s varsity film in order to get on college’s radars. He has the frame sitting at 6’6 260 to play at the next level, the only thing that’s missing is the varsity film. Once Indestad gets this varsity film expect him to start getting put on the radar, especially with him being on such a talented Lemont team which is going to have a lot of eyes on this season. He held his own in one on ones staying squared and punching his hands quickly to neutralize the pass rush. During positional drills, he moved well for his size. Both are shown below.

Tyler Hendricker Tyler Hendricker 6'4" | 230 lbs | DL Peotone | 2022 State IL 22′ DE 6’4 230 Peotone Twitter Highlights
Hendricker already has D3 offers from last season’s varsity film, what is interesting about Hendricker is that he possesses the ability to play higher-level football (D2 & Up). His problem is that he is inconsistent at times, most plays (as seen below) he’s able to win one on one’s (even against a future D1 player), and other times he gets neutralized against an average player. Once he’s able to increase his consistency then he’ll start to get offers from the higher levels. He has the talent, size, and skillet to do so, it’s more about honing that craft to make it happen. Hendricker has good character and is a down-to-earth guy, I have no doubt that his spring highlights will speak for themselves.

Kameron Shaw 22′ DE 5’11 235 Warren Township Twitter
Shaw caught my eye during the showcase with his eagerness to learn from the coach’s instructions and with his effort. He makes the most out of his frame which is mostly composed of good weight when rushing the passer. He’s quick off the LOS where he’s able to use a mix of speed rush and bull rush. Once Shaw gets film, he’s going to show everyone what he can do with the pads on and might turn some heads in the process.

Cody Silzer 22′ DE 6’3 230 Lockport Township Twitter Highlights
Silzer has been on my radar since December ever since I talked with Lockport’s head coach. He’s an up-and-coming player in this loaded 22′ Lockport class. He has JV film which gives you glimpses of his talent and skillset. He’s put on good weight since last season, he’s a good speed rusher where he’s able to bend out wide, get’s low, and speeds past the OT. I’d be surprised if he doesn’t have a breakout season on varsity over the next two season’s as his talent is high just like his brother Cole.

Cole Silzer 22′ DE 6’3 230 Lockport Township Twitter Highlights
Here’s the other part of the Silzer duo, Cole is in the same boat as Cody in needing that varsity film. Once he gets it he’s going to get put on the coach’s radars for the recruiting process. Cole has a good jump off the LOS, is able to slap the hands-down to get into the backfield, and is quick. Between him and his brother Cody, Lockport’s DE’s are going to be a force to reckon with for the next two seasons.

Quinn Hurley 22′ OG 6’5 274 Naperville Central Twitter
Hurley has a good frame sitting at 6’5 274, he needs film with the pads on to start getting put on coaches radars. He has untapped potential which with further development will come to the surface. He had glimpses of that potential at the showcase during positional drills and one on ones. One thing Hurley should focus on is his first steps, he got caught lunging forward during one on ones where he ended up getting beat by doing so. Overall, with further development and honing his craft, Hurley will get on coaches radars either this season or the next.

23’s
Trenton VanBoening 23′ OT 6’6 285 Libertyville Twitter Highlights
VanBoening has been putting in the work this offseason, he posts his workout videos on Twitter, goes to training sessions to hone his craft, and is eager to put the pads on to show what he’s able to do. He had a good showing at the showcase, he moves well for his frame and is able to get hands-on quickly in pass pro. Over the next few years, he’ll need to fill out his frame with more good weight and hone his craft further. In doing so, there’s no reason why he won’t play at the next level. He has that work ethic that will get him to the next level, one to keep an eye on moving forward.
Boston Bower 23′ DE 6’1 230 Huntley Twitter Highlights
Bower is a guy I’ve gotten to know and have talked to on more than one occasion. He put on weight since the last time I saw him a month ago and he’s increased his strength as well. His bull rush is like no other and he’s been working on mixing up the speed and bull rush techniques. Once he gets to put the pads on he’s going to do damage on the defensive line and it will show on his film. Bower is already a name that’s known around the IL high school recruiters, look for the same to happen with colleges once the spring season is over.

Danny Novickas 23′ DE 6’2 205 Mount Carmel Twitter Highlights
Novickas, like Bower, is a young talent that has been circulated through the IL high school recruiters. He is a stellar speed rusher and does a good job of using his hands to get into the backfield. For Novickas, he just needs to fill out his frame more and get that varsity film under his belt. Once this happens he’ll start getting looked at, he’s quick and gets off the LOS in a heartbeat getting pressure on the QB as well as shooting the gaps. Another young talent to keep an eye on if you’re a college coach.

Keeven Blanton 23′ DT 5’11 300 Phillips Academy Twitter
Blanton is a shorter stockier type of player, he has room to develop further and hone his craft. He has a solid pass rush where he uses a push/pull technique to shed the block and can bull rush pushing the OL into the tackling dummy. Blanton doesn’t get much attention as of yet since he’s class of 23′ but over the next two years, he’ll become a name to know for college coaches.

Justin Amaskane 23′ DT 5’11 225 Peotone Twitter
Amaskane doesn’t have any film from JV, he’s a hard worker in the weight room and on the field. He has glimpses of his potential, his main problem is that he doesn’t use his hands consistently. When he does use them he’s able to shed the block and get into the backfield getting pressure on the QB or shooting the gaps in run support. He’s apart of the Peotone squad that has Hendricker 22′ DE & Piper 23′ RB along with others that will play at the next level. Amaskane has untapped potential, with further development and honing his craft he’ll start gaining attention from college coaches.
24’s
Evan Hamende 24′ DE 6’2 210 Bishop McNarma Twitter
Hamende is awaiting his freshman season at Bishop McNarma, he’s a young player who has been putting in the work this offseason and has a good worth ethic to get better honing his craft. There are still years for him to flourish and tap into his potential, it’s early to say but given he continues to develop he’s going to turn heads over the next few years.

Danny Coffey 24′ DT 5’10 230 Glendbard West Twitter
Coffey is a workhorse in the weight room during this extended offseason. He’s been posting his workouts on Twitter and is eager for the season to start. Another young name to watch throughout his years as he develops further.

All of these players have the potential to have a breakout season, whether that’s this season for the 22’s or over the next two years for the 23’s & 24’s. Each player has the potential to do so, it’s more about keeping an eye on how they develop and hone their craft especially when talking about the younger athletes. Time will tell if these predictions are correct and I’m looking forward to seeing how each player does this spring.
