#5| 2022 6’2 180 DB Steven Sannieniola Steven Sannieniola 6'2" | 180 lbs | DB Quince Orchard | 2022 State MD – Bullis
Steven Sannieniola Steven Sannieniola 6'2" | 180 lbs | DB Quince Orchard | 2022 State MD has been an absolute lockdown defender in the IAC. He has dominated every matchup he’s had and his extra length makes him a terror for opposing receivers. He has incredible instincts, likely because he plays receiver himself, and you’ll never find him out of position. The only potential criticism scouts could have is the lack of high level competition he has faced in the IAC, however, that’s not a criticism of Steven even if it did turn out to be true. There’s a reason Sannieniola has already received a large number of power five conference offers, and if other DI programs are smart then they will recruit him as well.

A fearless player with spectacular tackling ability, Lavain is a no brainer for the division one level. Another season of play will truly showcase the overall talent Lavain Scruggs Lavain Scruggs 6'2" | 185 lbs | DB Archbishop Spalding | 2022 State MD has to offer, but there is no question that he’s already made his name known in the area.
#3| 2022 6’0 170 DB Javontae Woods Javontae Woods 6'0" | 170 lbs | DB St. Frances | 2022 State MD – St. Frances Academy
The St. Frances Academy defense is stiflingly good this year. Led by senior Boston College commit Jamal Hood Jamal Hood 5'11" | 180 lbs | DB St. Frances | 2022 State MD in the secondary, the Panthers are loaded, which means that Javontae Woods Javontae Woods 6'0" | 170 lbs | DB St. Frances | 2022 State MD might not get as many reps as he will for his senior season. That being said, Javontae has been playing with the highest caliber talent for three years now, and he has also been learning from the best of the best- his fellow teammates. There is simply no questioning his incredible athletic ability and speed. Javontae has proven that he can stay with anybody off the line, but he is also unafraid to attack the ball even if he is lined up in the secondary. Watch for Javontae to keep up his solid play this season and then really break out next season for his senior campaign.
#2| 2022 6’2 190 DB Joshua Thompson Joshua Thompson 6'2" | 190 lbs | DB St. John's | 2022 State MD – St. John’s
The St. John’s Cadets are off to a quick 2-0 start this season and their defense is only letting up an average of 10 points a game. Joshua Thompson Joshua Thompson 6'2" | 190 lbs | DB St. John's | 2022 State MD is an integral part of the Cadets’ defense and he is somehow even better now than he was last season. The shutdown defensive back can truly do it all and he simply does not get beat by receivers at this level. There’s no reason Thompson can’t be a star at the next level and his countless power five conference offers are a testament to that prediction.
#1| 2022 6’0 170 DB Cam Johnson – St. Frances Academy
Cam is the best uncommitted defensive back in Maryland and it won’t be long before his decision is made. He was named one of the nation’s best 247 players in 2020 and there’s no doubt that he will continue to dominate in 2021. Cam is an elite player on an elite team, but what is even more impressive about him is his humbleness and positive attitude. He will make any division one defensive secondary much better and it will be incredibly exciting to see where Cam Johnson decides to play football at the next level.
