Week 1 Oregon Offensive MVP’s
OVERALL- Andrew Simpson Andrew Simpson 6'1" | 165 lbs | DB Mountainside | 2021 State OR 6-1 175 ATH 21’ Mountainside- Western Oregon might have gotten the steal of the year landing Simpson. He is a D1 kid and in my opinion the top DB in the state for the 2021 class as well. On Friday he torched Beaverton catching 10 passes for 124 yards and 2 TDs in the 49-7 win.
Bryce Dyer Bryce Dyer 6'5" | 205 lbs | WR North Medford | 2022 State OR 6-5 205 WR/S 22’ North Medford- Potentially Oregon’s breakout player of the year. Dyer caught the winning TD pass (21 yards) with 21 seconds left, and also returned an INT in the 1st quarter, to help the Black Tornado beat Grants Pass 27-20.
Gavin Haines Gavin Haines 6'1" | 195 lbs | RB West Linn | 2021 State OR 6-1 200 RB/WLB 21’ West Linn- The Oregon 6A POY favorite continued where he left off a year ago, rushing for 150 yards and 4 TDs against a very talented Tualatin group, in the teams 37-6 win.
Kristian Fralich Kristian Fralich 5'9" | 175 lbs | WR Cascade Christian | 2021 State OR 5-9 165 ATH 21’ Cascade Christian- Not a lot of people know about him, playing 3A ball down in Southern Oregon, but Fralich is legit. He went for over 100 yards on the ground and 100 yards receiving with 3 TDs, while grabbing 1 INT as well.
Jordan King Jordan King 6'3" | 200 lbs | WR Central Catholic | 2022 State OR 6-3 200 WR 22’ Central Catholic- As mentioned numerous times King will be a big time D1 recruit, with double digit D1 offers before he is done. He had a big night with 2 TDs in the 2nd quarter alone in their 35-6 win over Jesuit.
Ryan Oliver Ryan Oliver 6'3" | 195 lbs | QB Lakeridge | 2023 State OR 6-1 190 QB 23’ Lakeridge- Coach Spencer Phillips has got to be stoked with this kid leading them for the next three years. On the night the youngster was 22-31 for 220 yards and 2 Td’s in their 35-20 win over Oregon City.
Drew Bennett Drew Bennett 6'1" | 190 lbs | DB Westview | 2022 State OR 6-1 190 WR 22’ Westview- Bennett broke out catching 5 passes for 115 yards and 2 TDs in the teams 21-17 loss to Aloha. The Cats have a talented young group, with a host of their top athletes not returning until next season, after playing in Utah this fall.
Jack Artman Jack Artman 6'3" | 195 lbs | QB Clackamas | 2021 State OR 6-3 195 QB 21’ Clackamas- Jack had a big first half throwing multiple long TDs, while accounting for a couple hundred yards, and splitting time with underclassmen Jaxon Shaw at QB. I would consider Artman one of my biggest sleepers state wide.
Austin Carter 6-0 190 RB 22’ Redmond- A much improved Redmond team smacked Bend 35-0, with Carter making the transition from QB to RB this season, and rushing for close to 200 yards and 4 TDs.
Royce Fasel Royce Fasel 6'0" | 225 lbs | LB Glencoe | 2022 State OR 6-0 210 RB/LB 22’ & Cam Stortro 6-4 175 QB 23’ Glencoe- Fasel is the real deal as he showed the last two seasons. On the night he rushed for 160 yards and 2 TDs, while the young and very talented QB Stortro hooked up with WR Tyler Cox 3 times for touchdowns. Expect to hear a lot about this youthful group moving forward as they blasted Liberty 42-22.
Dom Montiel Dom Montiel 6'3" | 185 lbs | QB Marshfield | 2022 State OR 6-3 190 QB 22’ Marshfield- One of the fastest rising prospects in Oregon for the 2022 class. Montiel threw 3 TD passes on opening night in the teams 37-21 win over Stayton.
Week 1 Oregon Defensive MVP’s
OVERALL- Jake Reichle Jake Reichle 6'3" | 185 lbs | DB Lakeridge | 2022 State OR 6-3 185 OLB 22’ Lakeridge- The Junior had a breakout night, picking off two passes and returning 1 for a TD, in the teams 35-20 win over a talented Oregon City squad. The Pacers have the potential of being one of the more dominant teams in Oregon in the coming years.
Connor Croskrey 5-11 210 OLB 21’ Newberg- Croskrey returned with a big opening night after a monster Junior season where he earned 1st team all-league honors. He accounted for 9 tackles, a fumble recovery and a sack in the teams 14-9 upset win over #5 Sherwood.
Brycen Indell Brycen Indell 6'0" | 210 lbs | LB Willamette | 2022 State OR 6-1 210 LB/RB 22’ Willamette- One of the fastest rising Junior’s in Oregon was equally impressive on both sides of the football. He accounted for 12 tackles, 3 tackles for loss and 1 INT. Offensively he was dominant carrying the ball 10 times for 172 yards and 3 TDs in the teams win over North Eugene.
Nick Molitor 5-10 200 WLB 21’ Sunset- Molitor had 1 of 4 INTs for the Apollos and 2 TDs offensively, helping Sunset to a 40-0 win over Sandy. It’s early but this could be one of the best SHS teams in some time.
Shane Parrow 5-9 220 LB 21’ Forest Grove- The undersized LB had a big night with 2 sacks and 3 tackles for loss. He was the bright spot for FG with his team getting stomped 35-0 by a below average Southridge group.
Clayton Hinton-Welty DB 21’ North Salem- It’s been tough for the Vikings in years past, but they have some talent. Hinton-Welty had double digit tackles and 2 INTs in the teams 20-0 opening night win over Central HS.
Dawson Whitten 6-0 185 DB 21’ Gresham- The Gophers lost a close one to Franklin 13-9 but Whitten accounted for 3 INT’s. He became one of only four athletes, over the last two years, to intercept three passes in one game.
Sean LaChapelle 6-4 200 Safety 22’ Milwaukie- The Junior had a big evening helping the Mustangs end an 11-game losing streak, at their new 4A classification level. LaChapelle made 12 tackles and had 1 INT + a Fumble Recovery in the 14-13 win over Tillamook.
