Milford Mill led wire-to-wire Friday night and was led by Rishon Holmes Rishon Holmes 6'1" | 195 lbs | DB Milford Mill | 2021 State MD . Holmes contributed to all four of Milford Mill’s touchdowns, while it was Woodlawn’s special teams that got them back into the game. Woodlawn recovered two fumbles in the endzone, one from a blocked punt, to make it a one-point game. After scoring to make it 25-18, Milford Mill’s defense forced a turnover on downs to seal the win.
Here are the standouts from Friday Night’s game!
Kamari Banks Kamari Banks 6'2" | 235 lbs | DL Milford Mill | 2022 MD , Milford Mill, DT/DE, 6’2″ 250lbs, 2022
Back in February, I wrote about Baltimore County players who could shine during the spring season. Kamari was one of those players. He flashed the tools, along with his size, to become a leader for Milford Mill. On Friday, Kamari was, arguably, the most impactful player on Milford Mill’s defense. Early in the game, he was mainly a third-down rotational lineman. By halftime, Kamari was consistently in the backfield and earned a larger role in the second half. What stood out was his energy and strength. He was able to overpower the offensive line and reset the line of scrimmage. And, when he got stalled, he kept moving his feet and eventually got into the backfield. Two plays that show this are ones that ended in interceptions. On each play, his first move got stopped, but he kept fighting and got a hit on the QB. These throws ended up being arm-punts that were intercepted. He was a force in both the run and pass games and showed he had used the quarantine to build his skill set. More games like this and Kamari will definitely see more college interest.
Rishon Holmes Rishon Holmes 6'1" | 195 lbs | DB Milford Mill | 2021 State MD , Milford Mill, QB/ATH, 6’2″ 205lbs, 2021
Rishon was the best player on the field for both teams on Friday. Contributing to all four of Milford Mill’s touchdowns, he showed why he holds a Power-5 offer from Maryland. He was dynamic as a QB, throwing for all four touchdowns, and able to make plays with his legs. His most impressive touchdown came from inside the 10-yard line where the pocket collapsed, and Rishon was able to keep his eyes in the endzone, extend the play and find his receiver. His athleticism made him dangerous whenever he had the ball in his hands. This was evident as a kickoff returner, where he contributed multiple big returns that set the offense up in good field position. Rishon is an underrated player in the 2021 class and should continue to make a name for himself during the spring season.
Marcus Harris Jr., Woodlawn, DE/OLB, 6’2″ 170, 2022
Marcus showed how good of an athlete he is during Friday Night’s game. Typically an edge rusher, his coaches moved him into the slot due to the quick-passing game of Milford Mill. This showed-off his movement and athleticism. He had no problems working in the open space, easily reading and reacting to WR-screens on his side of the field. He also had a sack on an extended play. His biggest play came when he intercepted Milford Mill when they were driving down the field. It came on an extended play where he was able to maintain concentration, drop and keep his coverage responsibility, and make the play on the ball. He was also a factor on special teams where he was in the backfield with relative ease. He has the frame to add weight without it affecting his athleticism, but he is very effective with his current build. Marcus is a very good player for Woodlawn that should continue to have a very good spring season.
