York, Lancaster Co. recruiting notes (March 6, 2021)
In this article:
In this week’s recruiting notes, we’re doing a dual county analysis on more 2022 prospects to watch as we move towards the spring and the summer. Also, as always, we’ll also update you on offers and commitments that we heard about at the end of this story.
Indian Land – QB Blake Goode
Analysis: One of the first things that stood out about Goode on film is his ability to create plays on the run and escape pressure. He is a better runner than people probably give him credit for on the read option. Blake has a nice spiral on his throws that allows receivers to catch the ball in stride, especially on the short passing game and throws to the middle of the field. He will find the hole in the defense and a short completion can turn into a long touchdown. The rising senior was an All-Region honorable mention for the 2020 season and is an outstanding student with a 3.9 GPA.
Indian Land – OL Ahmarion McLeod
Analysis: McLeod is a big, strong offensive lineman who can move people off the ball at the snap. He uses his hands well, without holding, to bring the fight to defensive ends and drive them into the ground at the tackle position. He can create the wide open run lanes that the running back needs to get into the open field and beyond.
Legion Collegiate Academy – WR/DB Victor Lindsay
Analysis: Lindsay is a two-way player that can stretch the field vertically and horizontally on offense, or play center fielder and bat the ball down on defense. We saw him on several jet sweep passes use his quickness to get to the corner and once he turns it, the potential is there for six points. He can catch the ball right in stride for a huge gain on the long ball. On defense, if he doesn’t make the interception, he’s going to make his presence felt by providing his fellow defensive back help on the long ball.
York – WR/SS Zy Brown
Analysis: The first thing that stood out on film about Brown on defense is his anticipation. He excels at jumping the route and timing it just right to make the interception. The rising senior can get his hands up and knock the ball down. The anticipation that he has at defensive back helps him at wide receiver. He can put his toe in the ground and get north and south quickly and has the ability to make people miss after the catch.
