Broad Run (Ashburn) OG Alex Birchmeier Alex Birchmeier 6'5" | 275 lbs | OL Broad Run | 2023 State VA
Birchmeier is going to be a top-five prospect in Va for the 2023 class, no doubt about it.
Already a five-star by some sites, Birchmeier currently sits at 6’5″ and 275lbs and that’s a great size, but not only is he big, he knows how to use it as Birchmeier is a wrestling state champion. A great OG who could help boost any program, Birchmeier has a ton of offers but just in the last few months he has picked up offers from Georgia, South Carolina, Indiana, Rutgers, LSU, Oklahoma, Oregon, Michigan, Ohio State, and Notre Dame. All those offers have come in since February 20th.
Birchmeier has the size, moves, and agility to be a top-level collegiate OG and he is only a sophomore.
Lake Taylor (Norfolk) RB Charles Fisher Charles Fisher 5'9" | 200 lbs | RB Maury | 2023 State VA
Fisher is part of a one-two punch with fellow 2023 RB Terrion Washington-Jacobs but Fisher is a different kind of runner. With a program that just produced top-end recruit Malik Newton, Fisher came into 2021 as the starter along with Washington-Jacobs, and in my opinion has taken the reigns as the featured back in Lake Taylor’s veer offense.
As a result, Fisher has seen his stock rise this spring. Just recently, Fisher picked up an offer from a school that knows how to recruit the 757 in Pitt. Fisher began receiving offers in 8th grade and picked up Southern Miss and Virginia University of Lynchburg before even stepping on a high school field. Once camps open up this summer, I expect to see Fisher’s stock rise even higher with potentially more power five offers.
Fisher has the potential to be one of the top five players in his class within the state at RB.
Bayside (Va Beach) TE Lemar Law Lemar Law 6'5" | 260 lbs | TE Green Run | 2023 State VA
Law is a huge target in the passing game but also very skilled in the running game. Sitting at 6’5″ Law has the prototypical size of a tight end and I have seen first hand that he can produce at the spot. While Law’s primary spot will be on offense, he is also used on defense and had three TFL this season in just five games. Law only caught five balls in the season but two of those were for touchdowns. Law would be a great red zone target for most schools.
In his sophomore season, his Bayside team almost made it into the playoffs. Currently, Law holds offers from UVA, Old Dominion, Maryland, and Virginia Tech.
Riverbend (Fredricksburg) TE Mathias Barnwell Mathias Barnwell 6'7" | 240 lbs | TE Riverbend | 2023 State VA
Barwell, a former Penn State commit is the truth. The absolute best TE in the state and with Birchmeier the gem of the 2023 class. You did read that right, Barnwell is a former Penn State commit who committed as a freshman but has since reopened his recruiting. In his shortened sophomore season, Barnwell caught nine balls for 192 yards and four scores. Like Law, Barnwell would be a great red zone target and is the most gifted tight end to come out of the state in years.
His offer list is a who’s who of top programs including Penn State, Oregon, USC, Nebraska, Tennessee, and more.
With camp season looming, it provides these four, and others a great chance to improve their stock and rise up our 2023 rankings. Who will rise and who will fall?
