While a lot of guys have showcased their potential in this very odd season, some stood out more than others. These are a few of the 2024 guys in no order who have really embraced this season and have seen their stock rise. It’s a great group of guys. Wiggins is a guy I was super high on after seeing him at a camp late last summer and once he got on the field, his recruiting exploded, even though he is yet to catch a touchdown.
As part of a King Goerge team that has gotten to the STATE SEMIS/FINALS in his first season, he has played a contributing role while letting the upperclassmen lead the way. Over the spring, Wiggins has received offers from Maryland, Penn State, UVA, and Pitt with more sure to follow. Once he gets out to camps this summer, colleges will begin taking note. It wouldn’t surprise me Wiggins ends up with north of 25 offers before his senior season.
If I was to grade Wigging on a 1-100 scale I would have him firmly in the 80-85 range but I don’t think we will really know his full potential until the fall when he is one of the bigger cogs in the King George offense.
Green Run (Va Beach) WR Keylen Adams
While Adams’ team didn’t make it to the playoffs, Adams still had a huge impact in his first few games as he reminded long-time Green Run fans of Plaxico Burress and is going to be a huge key for the Stallions in their march towards the top of the table in 4A over the next few seasons. Adams took advantage of all of the camps last summer and got an early jump on recruiting and when you look at his list of offers it shows.
Adams is a sure-handed WR with some very good speed who could develop into a high power five recruit.
Currently, Adams holds offers from Ole Miss, Louisiana-Monroe, Florida State, Maryland, Pitt, Old Dominion, UVA, Virginia Tech, and UNC.
Maury (Norfolk) WR/DB Da’Vontae Floyd
Floyd came onto the scene for Maury like gangbusters and oh man, he looks like a good recruit and good piece for Dyrri McCain’s team for the next few years.
Floyd over the course of his first season has 15 receptions for 183 yards and two scores but has been a revelation on defense as he has blocked two kicks, forced two fumbles, and broken up seven passes over the course of his first seven games as Maury heads into the state semis. With some growth, and of course camps this summer, Floyd could blossom into the next great Maury recruit just like Keandre Lambert was.
Floyd currently has offers from Maryland, UVA, Virginia Tech, Liberty, Old Dominion, and Pitt.
Ocean Lakes (Va Beach) WR Ryley McIntosh
McIntosh is a guy that has a great mentor in WR coach Mike Alston, a very good offense, and had a great guy to learn from in Myles Alston who is now at Pitt and all of that shows when you see him, still only 5’11”, McIntosh has room to grow and has great hands.
In his freshman season, I saw him catch a few balls that I thought would be uncatchable and was impressed. Another guy who will benefit from camps, McIntosh did pick up his first two offers in the form of Pitt and Maryland. McIntosh could prove to be a good power five target over the next few years.
