OBSERVATIONS
Malachi Mercer is among the top linebacker prospects in New Jersey’s 2023 class. Based on his highlights and some recent camp film, it’s easy to see why schools will want to get in early with him. We will post the Prep Redzone Top 2023 linebackers list in July.
There are several undersized prospects on this list that had impressive seasons. Brayden Nolan, Julian Jones, Alexander Uryniak, and Amare Smith are all under 6-foot tall. There is still a good chance that each of them will continue to get taller. Otherwise, it’ll be hard for them to get attention from a Division I school based on their height alone.
