With eight Seniors in the top 200 from a Shawnee Mission school, it is safe to say that there is a plethora of talent from the Shawnee Mission school district.  Here are five Seniors from Shawnee Mission that are looking to have a breakout season in 2021 or improve upon their impressive season in 2020.

LB, Keith Locke Keith Locke 5'11" | LB Shawnee Mission Northwest | 2022 State KS , 5’11, 210, Shawnee Mission Northwest

Keith Locke Keith Locke 5'11" | LB Shawnee Mission Northwest | 2022 State KS is the 9th ranked LB and the 64th ranked player overall in the class of 2022.  In 2020, he played well as he made 42 tackles with 4 TFL and had 2 sacks.  He plays as an ILB.  Against the run, he uses his instincts and play speed while taking the correct angle in pursuit of the ball carrier, uses his very good athletic ability to navigate through traffic, plays at a good pad level and displays good form tackling ability as he drives through the RB bringing him down with ease.  Against the pass, he uses his play speed and explosiveness to quickly penetrate the A gap, his range and closing speed in pursuit of the QB and his play strength to finish up with a sack.

DL, Kael Farkes Kael Farkes 6'3" | DL Shawnee Mission NW | 2022 State KS , 6’3, 250, Shawnee Mission Northwest Kael Farkes Kael Farkes 6'3" | DL Shawnee Mission NW | 2022 State KS is the 13th ranked DL and the 81st ranked player overall in the class of 2022.  He had a good Junior season in 2020 as he made 36 tackles with 4 TFL.  He shows very good versatility as he plays as both a DE and DT where he lines up in a 3T, 5T and 7T.  He is excellent against the run as he uses his very good burst and quickness to put himself in good position against the reach block of the TE and gets his hands inside the frame delivering a powerful punch and uses his very play strength to stack his man at the point of attack and shed the block.  Once the block is shed, he uses his very good instincts to take the correct angle in pursuit of the RB while displaying good range as he shows the ability to play sideline to sideline and uses his play strength in his upper body, lower body and core to bring down quick as well as large RB with force easily. WR, Jack Meylan Jack Meylan 5'11" | WR Shawnee Mission NW | 2022 State KS , 5’11, 175, Shawnee Mission Northwest Jack Meylan Jack Meylan 5'11" | WR Shawnee Mission NW | 2022 State KS is the 14th ranked WR and the 119th ranked player overall in the class of 2020.  In 2020,  he caught 28 passes for 391 yds (13.96 ypc) and scored 11 TD.  He plays on the outside primarily as an X.  He uses his very good football intelligence to read the coverage, finds the soft spot in zone, shows good hip fluidity as he breaks off his stem at a 90 degree angle on a dig route while possessing good hands as he makes on target catches with his hands with ease and shows very good toughness and heart as he runs behind his pads with the ball in his hands lowering his shoulder against larger DB and LB to pick up a few extra yards and a first down. DB, Zach Bailey Zach Bailey 5'10" | DB Shawnee Mission West | 2022 State KS , 5’10, 165, Shawnee Mission West Zach Bailey Zach Bailey 5'10" | DB Shawnee Mission West | 2022 State KS is the 16th ranked DB and the 182nd ranked player overall in the class of 2022.  In 2020, he made 10 tackles, 1 interception and 4 passes defensed.  He plays primarily as a LCB.  Against the run, he uses his good football intelligence to key and diagnose the play, gets square while playing at a very good pad level and shows good form tackling ability and play strength as he brings down larger RB with ease.  Against the pass, he flips his hips in zone coverage and uses his very good instincts as he reads the QB while patrolling the flat in cover 2, displays good closing speed to get to the ball as he tracks the ball in the air while displaying very good ball skills as he comes away with the interception or a PBU. TE, Logan Oberle Logan Oberle 6'5" | TE SM North | 2022 State KS , 6’5, 215, Shawnee Mission North Logan Oberle Logan Oberle 6'5" | TE SM North | 2022 State KS is the 7th ranked TE and the 186th ranked player overall in the class of 2022.  He plays in tight as a Y where is used primarily as a blocker.  He is an excellent run blocker as he fires out low, quickly shoots his hands placing them on the frame of the SAM but also quick enough to get his hat across as he releases inside to block a 5T as he delivers a powerful hand punch, drives his legs and displays excellent play strength and physical toughness as he finishes the block to the ground against LB and DE.
