Both teams have FCS+ caliber athletes and San Leandro is loaded with talent on the perimeter while James Logan has a big armed signal caller and athletes on both sides of the ball with FBS potential. Below, we will break down some of the top players that will go toe to toe on Friday night.
Marcus Sanders, James Logan HS
Sanders is having himself a very nice Senior season and has college level abilities. Having an ideal frame for the next level, he is a pocket passer with a big arm and is mobile enough to push the ball downfield from outside the pocket. He scans the field well and takes what’s given while able to throw into tight windows from 30+ yards downfield.
Shamoun Duncan Niusulu, James Logan HS
A terrific overall athlete that can play all over the field, Shamoun has FBS level talent at multiple defensive positions. During his Senior season, he has shown that he can come up and play physical in the box while fluid enough in space to cover receivers and break well to ball carriers in the open field while flashing a quick play diagnosis and good closing speed. A physical player that brings a good pop upon contact, he can play SS or OLB at the next level and has nice upside on the defensive side of the ball.
Siar Khaliqi, James Logan HS
Anchoring the blind side for the Colts, Siar is a heavy handed player with a nice initial shock and has the ability to sustain blocks and move well laterally in pass protection. Although a bit undersized, he wins with technique and leverage and can play at the next level at the D-III+ level.
Jeremy Jones, James Logan HS
Jones is an elite return specialist and has terrific vision and long speed in the open field. Making an impact in all three phases of the game, he has FCS+ level abilities at the next level and plays with good eye discipline and ball skills while physical enough to play bump and run with bigger receivers.
Demetrius Freeney, San Leandro HS
Freeney can play all over the field but does most of his damage from the backfield and the wide receiver position on the offensive side of the ball. An explosive player, he makes plays on defense with a strong play recognition and outstanding open field tackling ability and natural ball skills.
DJ Bryant, San Leandro HS
One of the top defensive backs in the state, Bryant is headed to SDSU next fall to play for the Aztecs. Having a rare combination of length and range, he is is a high upside player at the next level that should be a multi-year impact player.
Enoch Ampofo, San Leandro HS
Ampofo is one of the most electric athletes in the bay area and has great size for the position. A FBS caliber player, he had a stellar Junior season and possesses elite top end speed and big play ability. Flashing good short area quickness and running with power and physicality while able to make defenders miss in the open field, he will be a steal for a JUCO or four year program.
Joshua Nisa, San Leandro HS
Nisa is one of the most athletic and twitchy interior defenders in Norcal. Flashing good initial step twitch, he gets his hands on blockers in a hurry and creates immediate knock back while also an elusive pass rusher that can rush from many different angles and can win with speed or power. He is a FCS+ level prospect at the next level.
