Do it over and over again? You change the game.
A big hitter can alter the dynamic, and we’ve found a few who tend to do it on a regular basis. These four players from around the Palmetto State each go above and beyond simply bring the guy with the ball to the ground. If you’re a fan of the stick, you’re going to love the highlight reels they’re carrying into next season.
Randy Caldwell Randy Caldwell 6'0" | 185 lbs | DB Mauldin | 2022 State SC , Mauldin
We’ve written about Caldwell plenty, and we’re not even close to done. It’s because every time his name comes up, we’re seeing more to like as a potential college strong safety or linebacker. Take in the first and third highlights on his reel, and then quit questioning any reasoning you may have for PRZ including him on this list.

Jalen Rambert Jalen Rambert 6'1" | 240 lbs | LB Powdersville | 2023 State SC , Powdersville
Rambert is the top-ranked player in our Class of 2023 rankings for a reason. It’s the same reason he’s shooting up the Power 5 recruiting boards. He’s a talented tackler who makes the play instead of the highlight. Just the same, he often comes across as a rodeo hustler, lying in wait for the big-time takedown.

Elijah Vereen Elijah Vereen 5'9" | 170 lbs | DB North Myrtle Beach | 2022 State SC , North Myrtle Beach
Vereen hasn’t been considered the best player on the Chiefs’ defense the last couple years, but there’s no mistaking his ability to knock the daylights out of receivers, running backs and quarterbacks. He blitzes on one play, and hangs back to cover the middle on the next.

Judah McJimpsey Judah McJimpsey 6'2" | 200 lbs | LB Spartanburg | 2022 State SC , Spartanburg
Something that really stands out about the 6-foot-2, 200-pound middle linebacker is how he’s already in tackling position before the ball is snapped. He starts low to the ground and then stays there, knowing full well his center of gravity is going to be the basis for blowing up whatever he’s trying to stop.
