Continue ReadingThis game was not really a contest and that was due to a few very impressive performances from two Palatine players, one from each side of the ball. At the half the Pirates held a 21-0 lead over the Saxons and they continued their dominance over the second half. The Pirates would extend their lead and finish the game with a impressive 44-0 win over a very young Saxon team. Here were the stands from both sides of the field during this past Friday nights contest. Make sure to clink on the links to see on field highlights.
Palatine Pirates
Wide receiver Jacob Bostick Jacob Bostick 6'3" | 170 lbs | WR Palatine | 2022 State IL (6’3” and 170lbs) @JacobBostick5
There’s not much more that needs to be said about this young man, early on quarterback Eric Pecson targeted the junior four times, all were caught, two of them resulted in scores.

The other two, one was an impressive catch in traffic, taking a big hit on 3rd and long and the other resulted in a first down as well. High pointing the ball, plenty of speed and precise routes. This young man is a star int he making. Recently grabbing an offer from Pittsburgh, it won’t be the last P5 school that comes knocking on Bostick’s door. Over the offseason I thought Bostick needed to gain weight, but after seeing him live, that might not be an issue. Remember the reigning Heisman winner weights just 175 pounds, showing that being 215-220 isn’t a necessity. Bostick, like DeVonta Smith will be an exception to that rule.
2021 Linebacker Rand Paddock
Unfortunately for many college coaches, Paddock isn’t an option. Why? It’s because Paddock will be playing another sport at the next level, having already signed to play lacrosse at Bryant College. If their football coaches get a hold of Paddock’s highlights, they might be knocking on his door to practice for them too. The linebacker was everywhere on Friday night, picking of two passes (here and here) while being involved in numerous tackles. Paddock is a great player and I wish we could have seen him play on the gridiron at the next level.
2021 Tight End / Kicker Favour Okhavhe (6’4” and 225lbs) @FxvourOk
An absolute monster, Okhavhe looks like he’s been in a college weight room for three years already, he’s just physically much more mature than many his age. With Bostick and other’s getting more of Pecson’s looks, Okhavhe didn’t have much of an impact early, but when he was given his chance, he did this.

Okhavhe is committed to Garden City Community College, so keep an eye out for him when he complete his two seasons there. He very well could be an instant impact transfer after getting two more years of experience under his belt.
2024 Running back Dominik Ball (5’10” and 180lbs) @DominikBall
Physically, Ball looks like he’s a junior and plays like one too. He’s played early and often, the coaches weren’t just giving the freshman caries when the game got out of hand. Ball took snaps as a wildcat quarterback while also being the lead blocker when others ran out of the same formation. He’s a track star and it shows, Ball has electric speed to go along with good hands and vision. It’s a lot to ask for a freshman to play the amount Ball did, but the coaching staff trusts him and it’s easy to see why.
2022 Linebacker Mitch Larkin Mitch Larkin 6'1" | 210 lbs | LB Palatine | 2022 State IL (6’1” and 210lbs) @Mitch_larkin16
Solid across the board, played the run and pass very well, Larkin made plays throughout the evening. Active in the passing game, tipping this pass and filling the gaps when not in coverage. His frame is solid, Larkin will be able to continue to add on weight as he gets older. He’s versatile enough to end up as an outside backer, but I like him in the middle. Larkin is in line to have a really big senior season.
Names to remember going forward:
2023 Quarterback Grant Dersnah (6’3” and 180lbs) @GDersnah
Threw two TD passes in a back-up role but not just in mop-up duty. Is in line to start next year and could put up huge numbers as he’s already formed good chemistry with Bostick.
2022 Cornerback Kameron Lewis (6’ and 170lbs) @Kam_prospect1
Didn’t get tested much because he didn’t give his man much room to get open. When a corner isn’t thrown at, it’s a good sign.
Schaumburg Saxons
2021 Athlete Anthony Hernandez Anthony Hernandez 6'2" | 190 lbs | DB Schaumburg | 2021 IL (6’2” and 200lbs) @ahern2021
Although Hernandez played mostly safety, his frame will play well as a linebacker at the next level. The Northern Illinois commit made plays all over the field, with great read and react skills. A very solid tackler who has potential to really make an impact at the next level. The Huskies got a very good prospect.
2022 Running back Takumi Fred (5’9” and 210lbs) @TakumiFred
A solid back who is a grinder, his running style is very much an old school variety, as he pounds the defense to get them tired later in the game and uses that to his advantage. Fred is not the fastest back, but his power is very impressive. He’s got great leg drive, moving the pile even when he’s corralled for what seems to be a short gain. Solid balance and vision, Fred get’s better as the game goes on. I liked what I saw and he’s got the potential to make a difference at the next level.
2021 Safety Blake Buchanan (6’1” and 195lbs) @Blakebuch1
Committed to Wisconsin-Whitewater, Buchanan has a great frame and should be a solid player at the next level. He recognizes plays well, has the hands to make a play and speed to get there. Buchanan could eventually slide down and play linebacker like his teammate Hernandez, but for now he’s a very solid looking safety prospect.
Name to know going forward:
2022 Wide receiver Dejuante Wilson (6’2” and 190lbs) @Dejuante2022
Really like the frame but does need to work on route running. Could have very big senior year if he works on the little things.
