In the meantime, we will spend the next several weeks doing research on prospects. This isn’t an exact science. COVID-19 shortened the season of a lot of high school football prospects in Maryland.. Some players didn’t even get to play during their junior season. Therefore, some players did not have enough film to make this initial list. Prep Redzone Maryland is always open to hear from coaches. No. 11 Josh Gary Josh Gary 5'11" | 170 lbs | WR Bullis | 2022 State MD /5-11/190/St. John’s previously not ranked)
Gary has an offer from Liberty.
No. 10 Carter Phillips Carter Phillips 6'2" | 170 lbs | WR Landon | 2022 State MD /6-3/180/Landon School (previously not ranked)
Phillips committed to Georgetown on Apr. 9. That’s very impressive considering his high school did not play any football during the 2020-2021 season.
No. 9 Devon Anderson Devon Anderson 6'1" | 190 lbs | WR Northwest | 2022 State MD /6-2/195/Northwest (previously not ranked)
Anderson has an offer from UMass. Anderson and his high school team played only one game this spring.
No. 8 Zimeir Handy Zimeir Handy 5'8" | 175 lbs | WR Decatur | 2022 MD /5-8/175/Decatur
Handy is one of the few players on this list who was able to play some games during the 2020-2021 season. He caught 35 passes for 529 yards (15.1 ypc) and 10 touchdowns in the seven games he played this spring.
No. 7 Jordan Scarbrough Jordan Scarbrough 5'10" | 185 lbs | WR St. Mary Ryken | 2022 State MD /5-10/185/St. Mary Ryken (previously not ranked)
Scarbrough has an offer from Navy. He has some quickness to him and runs good routes. Scarbrough will be a solid slot wide receiver at the Division I level.
No. 6 Malik Baker Malik Baker 5'9" | 200 lbs | WR Oxon Hill | 2021 MD /5-11/190/St. Frances
Baker has an offer from Boston College. He played his junior year season at Oxon Hill High School before reclassifying and transferring to St. Frances. St. Frances has played one game in the past 12-15 months.
No. 5 Andrew Jacobs Andrew Jacobs 5'11" | 190 lbs | WR St. Frances | 2022 State MD /5-11/190/St. Frances
Jacobs has an offer from Tennessee.
No. 4 DJ Linkins DJ Linkins 6'3" | 170 lbs | WR St. Johns | 2021 MD /6-3/170/St. John’s (previously not ranked)
Linkins holds an offer from Pitt.
No. 3 Lamar Patterson Lamar Patterson 5'10" | 180 lbs | WR St. Frances | 2023 MD /5-9/175/St. Frances (previously No. 2)
Patterson has an offer from Liberty, Arizona State, UMass, Michigan, Morgan State, Pittsburgh, and Tennessee.
No. 2 Ike White Ike White 6'0" | 175 lbs | WR St. Frances | 2022 State MD /5-10/180/St. Frances (previously not ranked)
Boston College, Cincinnati, Maryland, Minnesota and Virginia Tech are among his ten offers.
No. 1 Peter Kikwata Peter Kikwata 6'1" | 180 lbs | WR Northwest | 2022 State MD /6-1/170/Northwest (previously not ranked)
From a recruiting standpoint, he is the undisputed top Class of 2022 wide receiver prospect in the state of Maryland. His offer list of 20-plus schools includes South Carolina, Arkansas, Auburn, Boston College, Buffalo, Cincinnati, Duke, Penn State, Maryland, Liberty, and Vanderbilt. Kikwata and his high school teammates only played one game during the spring.
