Aidan McCloskey Clarksburg- McCloskey had a big game last Friday against cross-town rival Seneca Valley. He had a big game on the ground against a strong defense. He showed elite vision and he used that vision to find the right hole, cut back into open space, and break off long runs. McCloskey showed he can be a lead back and a key focal point of an offense. Expect him to have a big season this fall.
Will Gardner Walter Johnson- Gardner came into the season an unknown, he left the season known as one of the best quarterbacks in the counties. Gardner showed he has all the tools to be a quarterback at the next level. He has the anticipation and the arm to make big plays downfield. He also has the ability to get outside the pocket and extend plays. With his ability to make big plays inside and outside the pocket expect him to be the county’s top quarterback in the fall.
Josh Pilarski Churchill- Pilarski is a prime example of why this spring season was so important to these seniors. In the short two-game season he put up astronomical numbers. Pilarski is a deep threat that can stretch the defense and attack vertically downfield. He also has great instincts and hands. He also shows that he has a great feel for the game as he has made multiple tough grabs on the sideline and he always keeps his feet in bounds. He shows off skills that coaches expect to see on Saturday, not Friday. Pilarski has made a real case for himself in this shortened spring season. Expect him to commit this spring.
Jose Cabrera Walter Johnson- Cabrera has been one of the unsung heroes for Walter Johnson these past three years. He has been overshadowed by his teammates in his career but he has always put up production. Cabrera is a physical receiver that can make tough grabs and come down with contested balls. He is a true red-zone threat and is a reliable receiver. Cabrera is a productive player and will continue to do be one at the next level next season.
Claudius Bityeki Kennedy- Bityeki is further proof that Kennedy is improving as a program. Bityeki is a hidden gem. He has college size and is versatile as he can lineup on the outside at tackle and he can also slide inside and play guard. Bityeki is powerful as he is able to move defenders downfield and turn them away from ball carriers. Despite his size, he is mobile which allows Kennedy to utilize him as a pulling guard when needed. He also finishes his blocks downfield. Bityeki was a senior captain of this improved Kennedy team.
