Continue ReadingThe QB class in Alabama for 2022 will be defined as one of the strongest from top to bottom in a long time, with more than 10 guys getting legitimate looks from Division 1 programs. Let’s take a look at five more guys who could be taking snaps at the D1 level in a couple of years.
Tucker Kilcrease Tucker Kilcrease 6'0" | 180 lbs | QB Brantley | 2022 State AL | Brantley
The numbers and the game tape immediately show that Kilcrease is extremely efficient as a passer. The biggest concern currently is with the signal caller’s size. Kilcrease is in that 6″0 range but needs to add body mass to prove durable at the next level. Arm strength is good but has room to become even better, while precision is his current strong suit as a passer. Kilcrease will be labeled as a pro-style QB, but he does possess the ability to move the pocket and get away from traffic when need be. Group of 5 offers are present now and is a good projection for this time.
William Lankford William Lankford 6'3" | 180 lbs | QB Pelham | 2022 State AL | Pelham
All of the athleticism you could ask for out of a prototypical sized dual threat QB is present in Lankford. A two sport star, Lankford fits the mold of a playmaker. Big time arm strength is there, but throwing motion refinement is needed. Lankford wins currently due to athleticism and arm strength and will need some technical refinement as he moves forward, although he holds unteachable traits with his strength and agility. Impressive testing numbers with 40 yd times in the 4.8 range. Likes to get outside of the pocket and prone to throw no matter how his feet are set. Good thing with Lankford is that most all of his flaws can be coached. Raw potential thru the roof. Somebody is going to get a potential star here.
EJ Ousley EJ Ousley 6'1" | 170 lbs | QB Prattville | 2022 State AL | Prattville
Prattville has a history of producing talented QB’s and Ousley seems to be the next man up. Over 2200 yards, 22 TD’s and a 60% completion rate were all impressive numbers for Ousley during his JR campaign. Technically smooth and sound showing comfort as a passer in the pocket as well as on the move. Ousley doesn’t freak out and scramble, he stays the course through the progression and delivers with poise more times than not. Good footwork and a throwing motion that you can tell has been worked on. Decent arm strength. Ousley won’t win a lot of size contests but technique helps separate him from others. Potential good find for someone late in the recruiting game.
Caleb Nix Caleb Nix 6'0" | 185 lbs | QB Central-Phenix City | 2022 State AL | Central
Caleb Nix Caleb Nix 6'0" | 185 lbs | QB Central-Phenix City | 2022 State AL , otherwise known as Auburn QB, Bo Nix, little brother, has a big future ahead of him. With a game that mimics his older brother in a lot of ways, Nix can beat you with both the arm and legs. A good understanding of the RPO offense is present. Good arm traits like strength and accuracy show on film, as well as athletic ability that appears on designed runs. Nix understands the game and what is needed from him. Just a really solid player in all phases. Group of 5 offers are present and would be a correct projection for now.
Evan Smith Evan Smith 5'11" | 170 lbs | ATH Oak Mountain | 2022 State AL | Oak Mountain
Smith is the type of dynamic athlete that has the potential and opportunity to line up at any skill position and be successful. Over 1700 rushing yards, 712 passing yards and 31 combined TD’s prove that as he starred as a junior. Elite shiftiness with the ball in hand combined with way above average speed make him a nightmare to tackle. Calling the shots in a triple option offense makes one think he’s a tough QB projection, but he does a good job tossing the ball when he gets into those situations. Anyone running wishbone/triple option concepts will be intrigued with Smith, which shows by his current offer list. Smith will have value in any offense though as a dynamic playmaker with ability in the slot or at RB. Smith is one of the most fun playmakers to watch in the state.
