I’ll admit that it’s virtually impossible to see and evaluate all of the 350-plus athletes that competed for an invitation to The SHOW. The SHOW is the top football showcase in the nation in terms of exposure and the number of athletes that attend the event. These are just a few of the athletes that I had a chance to evaluate. There will be more in the upcoming days. NextGen will announce the names of the top players and the names of the players who were invited later on this week.
Elijah Leonard/Linebacker/2024
Leonard was a part of the first session which featured 2024-2026 prospects. He took a ton of reps doing the LB VS RB passing 1v1’s session and broke up a lot of passes. There weren’t a lot of linebackers so that group was a little gassed towards the end. Leonard also looked good during the individual drill session. Only time will tell if he stays at the linebacker position in the upcoming years.
Braden Gifford Braden Gifford 6'6" | 285 lbs | OL Liberty North | 2024 State MO /Offensive Tackle/6-4/250/Liberty North/2024/MO
Gifford was solid during the OL vs. DL session with the younger group. He did good enough to be invited to the second session that included 2022 and 2023 prospects. Let’s just say he did more than just hold his own against the more talented group in the second session. He lined up at the offensive tackle position during 1v1’s.
Ramon White/Wide Receiver/5-10/Huntsville/2024/AL
I was impressed with White’s route-running ability and his quickness coming in and out of his cuts. The ball wasn’t delivered to him on several reps where he was open, but he did enough to stand out among a large group of receivers. I’d have to check the video, but I believe he was invited to compete with the older athletes in the second session as well.
Harlan Pitts/Linebacker/Buckhorn/2024/AL
Pitts is another linebacker who was able to get a lot of reps with the younger group. He has a frame that you would assume he’ll continue to grow into in the next couple of years. Pitts got a lot of work covering running backs during the 1v1 session and won a lot of reps. Like Leonard (above), he got tired towards the end. However, he showed me a lot by continuing to take back-to-back reps. There were double the amount of running backs to linebackers.
Tyler Bell Tyler Bell 6'3" | 295 lbs | OL Lausanne | 2023 State TN /Offensive Lineman/6-3/265/Lausanne/2023/TN
Bell was certainly one of the standouts among the older group of offensive linemen. He lined up on the inside during 1v1’s and defensive tackles had a hard time getting past him. Bell displayed great usage of his hands, power, aggressiveness, and blocked until the play was called dead.
