I’ll admit that it’s virtually impossible to see and evaluate all of the 350-plus athletes that competed for an invitation to The SHOW. The SHOW is the top football showcase in the nation in terms of exposure and the number of athletes that attend the event. These are just a few of the athletes that I had a chance to evaluate. There will be more in the upcoming days. NextGen will announce the names of the top players and the names of the players who were invited later on this week.
Parker Leise Parker Leise 6'2" | 215 lbs | QB Shawnee Mission East | 2023 KS /6-2/205/Quarterback/2023/Kansas/Shawnee Mission East
I had a chance to look at Leise throw during The VI QB College (Saturday) and the Nextgen camp (Sunday) and came away impressed. I evaluated him a few months ago after watching his sophomore year highlights. After watching him throw the football, it answered any questions I may have had about his arm strength, accuracy, mechanics, and footwork. He has an offer from Kansas.
Cameron Roach/Wide Receiver/2023/Georgia/Grayson
He may not have been the biggest wide receiver out there, but he was one of the quickest. He’s shifty and was able to get separation from defensive backs. However, he dropped a few passes that were catchable. He’ll have to clean that up.
Peyton Lange Peyton Lange 6'9" | 340 lbs | OL Minnehaha Academy/SMB | 2023 State MN /6-9/380/2023/Minnesota/Blake School
There’s an old saying in sports that states that “you can’t teach size”. That is the case with Peyton Lange Peyton Lange 6'9" | 340 lbs | OL Minnehaha Academy/SMB | 2023 State MN . He’s 6-foot-9 and weighs 380 pounds. The point is this: he’s an under-the-radar offensive prosect waiting to be discovered. He’s a little bit raw and did get beat a few times by smaller and quicker defensive ends during 1v1’s. He has a tremendous upside and room to improve in technique and agility. In a real football game, some of the moves that the defensive ends used wouldn’t work at all. If he drops some weight and works on his agility, he’ll be a solid Power 5 lineman prospect.
Nolen Reed/6-3/215/Tight End/2022/Missouri/North County
Reed lined up on the outside for 1v1’s and won the majority of his matchups. He ran different types of routes and displayed a knack for catching the football away from his body. Reed did a great job of using his size and strength advantage over most of the defensive backs he faced and was physical off the line of scrimmage. It’s worth noting that Reed also plays quarterback for his high school team. That shows me that Reed if willing to do whatever it takes to get on the football field at the next level.
Saadiq Clements/6-4/2023/Defensive End/2023/Kentucky/Henderson County
I would have to watch some film again to be sure, but Clements had the most dominant day out of all of the defensive lineman I watched during the camp. He did an excellent job of using his hands to slap down the arms of the offensive linemen who were trying to block him during 1v1’s. Clements got off the ball pretty good and used both speed and power during his pass rushes. It’s worth noting that his overall movement and agility looked good during the individual drill sessions.
