It’s been nothing short but a successful camp season for the 7v7 squad, who has won each tournament we have attended. They’ve got serious talent and size to match. They also cannot be coached by a better man in coach Al Crosby. Congrats to all teams, prospects, and coaches who were in attendance! Shout out to coach Tobias Darden for putting on an excellent event and for representing his squad well.
Below are Offensive Standouts from the Tournament of Champions 7v7 event this past weekend. I couldn’t cover 15U prospects, so all below are from the 18U bracket. We’ve got a nice mix of old names as well as newcomers to this site! It’s always good to expand on our player base. These events help!
Marqui Adams Marqui Adams 6'0" | 185 lbs | QB Neumann-Goretti | 2022 State PA | QB | 6’0 185lbs | Neumann-Goretti | 2022
Sharp, consistent, poised. Always seems like he’s in control of each rep. I found these traits the first time watching Adams in February and saw the same this time around in Coatesville. Quick with his deep ball reads, as well as accurate downfield. Adams, who holds an offer from Temple University, displays great timing on crossers and drags in the middle of the field. Could help himself more often by taking the check down. He’s one of Philly’s premier talents at the QB position and was nothing short of that here.
Khavon Walker | WR | 5’10 165lbs | Lincoln HS | 2021
Jasir Jefferson | WR | 6’0 170lbs | Neumann-Goretti | 2022
Cyncere Hennix | WR | 5’11 170lbs | Olney HS | 2021
The combination of Walker, Jefferson, and Hennix proved to be too much for most defenses to handle. We’ve talked about Walker’s skill set and how the senior has dramatically boosted his stock due to stellar camp play as well as solid play this Spring with Lincoln. Jasir Jefferson, the youngest of the group showed why he’s up next. Smooth transition in and out of cuts. Solid acceleration downfield and can catch the ball in stride without losing a step. The kid was productive while I was in attendance. Was pleasantly surprised to see Cyncere Hennix on the squad. He jumped onto our radar while covering this Spring season in the PPL. He showed serious elusiveness and change of direction ability with the ball in his hands. Hennix was pivotal in Day 2, flashing elite playmaking ability, the same playmaking ability he shows with pads on.
Evan Spivey | ATH | 6’2 185lbs | Germantown Academy | 2023
Spivey is the only player to be featured on both offensive and defensive standout pieces from this event. His game goes both ways. The potential is through the roof. He’s a well-rounded athlete who boasts a moldable 6’2 frame. His coaches at Germantown as well as Coach Darden have raved about his versatility. It shows. The Philly’s Finest player was tearing up defenses while I was in attendance.
Kelby Hampton | WR/DB | 6’0 175lbs | LaSalle College HS | 2024
Here’s another Philly’s Finest player who, much like Spivey, has upped his stock. The youngest player in this piece, Hampton continues along the development path that of Evan Spivey’s. A highly versatile player who can contribute on both sides of the ball due to great awareness and IQ. Where he best fits is yet to be determined but we have time to discuss that further. Looking forward to seeing how well he progresses in the future.
Mason Peterson Mason Peterson 5'11" | 200 lbs | RB Monsignor Bonner | 2022 State PA | RB/ATH | 5’11 200lbs | Monsignor Bonner-Prendie | 2022
When watching the Dream Makers games, a big-bodied back, who definitely has the physical stature of a running back, continued to make catch after catch after catch for his team. In the same mold of AIT’s Jaheim White and 412Elite’s Malachi Moore, Mason Peterson Mason Peterson 5'11" | 200 lbs | RB Monsignor Bonner | 2022 State PA showed why he’s more than a power back. He’s got serious hands that college coaches should be drooling over. Swing passes, drags across the middle, skinny posts, you name it, Mason was running it. I didn’t count any drops throughout the day when Peterson was being targeted. Any coach asks me what his hands are like, I’ve got proof he’s more than capable to catch the ball out of the backfield.
Kylon Wilson | WR/DB | 5’9 155lbs | Farrell HS | 2023
Every tournament, there’s that one prospect that makes the sideline scream and you have to stop what you’re doing to see what just happened. That was Kylon Wilson on multiple occasions this past 7v7 event. In a rough-touch quick-stopping 7v7 event, it really is a testament to one’s elusiveness and agility to make defenders whiff on touching you, let alone actually tackling you. I was put on to Kylon this past weekend, and it’s about time he gets some shine. He was incredible in the open field.
Andrew McHugh | WR/DB | 6’1 175lbs | Archbishop Wood | 2022
Colin O’Sullivan | QB | 6’0 173lbs | Upper Dublin | 2023
Ryan Moore | ATH | LaSalle College HS | 2022
Ryan Moore and Colin O’Sullivan were both featured in our preview when going over underrated prospects to keep an eye on at this event. They showed out for Prep7. Moore was productive thanks to consistent dimes from his QB O’Sullivan. Accurate at pretty much all areas of the field. In rhythm on timing throws. Having Moore and McHugh at your disposal has to be fun, however. There’s something to be said about the level of competition Prep7 played as well. They held their ground and represented their coaches well.
