Offensive Spotlight
Logan Smith, QB, 6’4″ 175lbs, Sprague HS ’22

Smith has stepped up and delivered some impressive throws this season for Sprague, as he comes off a 4 TD game last week against South Salem on a 63-28 blowout with no turnovers. Smith is one of the most accurate and best deep ball passers I have seen this year. He consistently throws his receivers open, and shows a nice trajectory and touch to give them easy catches to make. His pocket mechanics are very good, as he has shown the ability to slide left and right to keep his eyes downfield, step up in the pocket, and throw off platform if needed. He does a great job adjusting his arm angle to make difficult throws. He delivers with a quick and fluid release. I would like to see him put more velocity on short and intermediate throws, but he always makes the right read with good timing, so that will be easy to sharpen up on. He can let it fly downfield and is extremely accurate. He’s drawn interest from various FCS and Ivy League programs thus far. He holds a 3.4 GPA and looks promising going forward.

Defensive Spotlight
Austin Mills, LB, 6’0″ 205lbs, Churchill HS ’22
Film: https://www.hudl.com/profile/11676316/Austin-Mills
Mills is a tough and gritty kid that is a all-out hard worker on the field and in the classroom. He holds a 3.9 GPA and flies around on the field. He’s got position versatility at LB, as we’ve seen him line up at MLB, OLB, and as a stand up pass rusher. He shows solid play recognition and flies to the ball on any given play. He plays with a high motor and plays til the whistle every play. He does a good job shedding or disengaging off blocks to put himself in position to make a play. Mills has displayed fairly good play recognition and breaks down to tackle. He does a good job of identifying opening alleys to meet ball carriers in developing lanes. He still has room to improve, but shows some potential going forward.
