Continue ReadingThe Brookings Bobcats finished just short of the perfect season at 11-1. The spread-wing offensive unit had one of the best combinations of speed and power across the board. The line had some quick and powerful linemen, to open gaps for the run game and protect the QB. The backfield had a lot of speed, but still an impressive amount of strength as well, the receiving corps were full of playmakers as well. Defensively, their 3-4 set also had a good blend of speed and power, the line was quick off the ball and engaged the line well. The linebackers and secondary really worked well together in both run support and pass coverage, the whole defense was full of good tacklers. The Bobcats also received the Contenders pick because of the returning firepower for the 2021 season.

OL/DL- Brock Longville Brock Longville 6'3" | 220 lbs | DL Brookings | 2022 State , Perry King Perry King 6'3" | 265 lbs | OL Brookings | 2022 State , & Magnus Nelson Magnus Nelson 6'1" | 250 lbs | DL Brookings | 2022 State , these three will lead the linemen units on both sides of the ball, each of them have quick feet and good hand technique. They all also drive off the ball well when blocking and finish through the whistle. Defensively they are still quick off the ball, shedding blocks and finding the ball to make a good tackle.
Magnus (Sophomore) (Injured, Junior Season)
RB/WR- Cole McKeown has good vision, agility and speed. He does a good job finding space and getting North and South, does not dance around with the football, He also has a good deal of strength, is not easy to bring down.
QB- Jaxon Bowes Jaxon Bowes QB Brookings | 2022 State does a good job running the RPO offense, good decision making, speed, agility accuracy, and arm strength. He is good at extending plays with his feet, keeping his eyes downfield and making a good, quick decision, and above all, getting the ball to his receivers.
LB- Jaxton Eck Jaxton Eck 6'0" | 215 lbs | LB Brookings | 2023 State plays his position well, he seals the edge, contains and makes a good form tackle. He is fundamentally sound on defense, doesn’t always go for the big hit, just makes the play.
K- Payton Theodosopoulos has a good leg for kickoffs and PATs, can also hit some good range field goals, big game changer in 2021.
