So as a scout focusing on Kansas athletes, I took advantage of the situation and scouted the Coffeyville at Highland contest on April 18.
The Red Ravens knocked off the Scotties 30-0. Here is a look at a handful of Coffeyville prospects from Kansas who hope to play at four-year programs when their playing days at Coffeyville are completed.
TE, Cale Harbor, 6’7”, 250, (Shawnee Mission Northwest) – Harbor is a redshirt sophomore and the only sophomore from Kansas on the Red Raven roster. At six-foot-seven he is a big target in the passing game. Coffeyville kept the ball on the ground for most of the second half and Harbor is a solid blocker in one and two tight-end formations.
FB, Antonio Espinoza, 6’3”, 230, (Maize) – Espinoza is a redshirt freshman full back. He is strong and a solid lead-blocker. Coffeyville has three solid fullbacks so he splits time and gets the majority of his snaps on third down. He carried the ball once and had one reception against Highland. He is a transfer from MIAA member school Central Missouri. He has experience playing linebacker and could line up at tight end in the future.
TE, William Dennis, 6’4”, 240, (Blue Valley Northwest) – Dennis played high school ball at Blue Valley Northwest. He originally went to Oklahoma University where he was going to be a pitcher for the Sooners Baseball squad. He plays tight end for Coffeyville, but could also play H-Back. He has good speed and nice hands. He was targeted early in the game but overthrown. He is athletic enough to play past JUCO ball. Like Espinoza, he is a redshirt freshman.
