Here are some of the rising Ohio receivers in the class of 2022.
Javi’er Wills 6’0” 178 Westerville South
Wills along with Kaden Sunders give the Wildcats a two-prong attack at the wide receiver position. Wills is especially impressive versus press man coverage due to his release skills. He has a good vertical and can highpoint the football over defensive backs.
Claishon Ivory Claishon Ivory 5'10" | 170 lbs | WR Euclid | 2022 State OH 5’11” 175 Euclid
If you want to go deep, this is the guy to throw it to due to his speed and acceleration. Ivory blows past corners and safeties whether he’s out wide or in the slot. He’s the go to guy on takeoff and seam routes, only hope for the defense is to get pressure on the quarterback.
Jack Arnold Jack Arnold 6'0" | 175 lbs | WR Berea Midpark | 2022 OH 6’0” 175 Berea Midpark
When you first watch Arnold, you think of him as a possession receiver but then you realize he has deceptive speed when he runs the tunnel screen and when he goes vertical. He also does a superb job of finding windows in zone coverage to get open.
Tayshaun Mayfield Tayshaun Mayfield 6'2" | 225 lbs | ATH Hilliard Bradley | 2022 State OH 6’2” 200 Hilliard Bradley
Mayfield is an intimidating physical specimen at the wideout position. He has terrific ball skills and can go high in the air to bring the football down. Mayfield also is a punishing running back with good agility and quickness. Mayfield could grow into a tight end at the next level.
Brenten Jones Brenten Jones 6'2" | 180 lbs | WR Steubenville | 2022 OH 6’2” 180 Steubenville
Jones a tall and smooth receiver that also doubles as a defensive back. He has sure-hands and will fight defensive backs for the ball or out jump them to haul in the reception. An outstanding basketball player as well, Jones’ versatility and competitive nature stands out.
Kenyon Owens Kenyon Owens 6'1" | 190 lbs | WR Chaminade-Julienne | 2022 OH 6’1” 185 Chaminade-Julienne
This talented slot receiver has breakaway speed. Owens can take it to the house every time he gets the ball in his hands. His speed and big play potential is also evident as a return specialist who runs by would-be tacklers in space.
