With the 2021 season approaching and spring practices started, we’re looking at returning running back prospects from 8A District 2 in the East Coast areas of Florida. There are some very good prospects and several sleeper prospects that should all be getting looks for the next level. Prep Redzone Florida will always promote everybody in hopes of them getting the opportunity of playing college football at the next level.
Dakoda Wagner- Flagler Palm Coast
Wagner is a very talented athlete out of Flagler Palm Coast, he has Division 1 size, ability, and already has an offer from Army West Point. He’s also an outstanding student with a 4.0 GPA and scored a 1290 on his SAT.
Strengths: Wagner is a very good athlete and shows a lot of versatility in his game, he runs with good power (425lb squat) and forward lean, runs through tackles consistently, and his outstanding catching the ball out of the backfield showing natural hands and receiving ability, he’s not just a power back, he shows very good speed in the open field and can rip off big runs.
Derrick Grayson- Lake Mary
Grayson should be in line for a big season with the graduation of three seniors that were all splitting carries in a committee backfield, he had 48 carries for 202 yards last season.
Strengths: Grayson shows good short-area quickness and hits hole quickly, has 4.62 40 speed, shows a patient running style and does a good job reading his blocks. There’s not a whole lot of film on him, but he does show a lot of potential.
Daravis Scott- Oviedo High c/o 23
Scott is a very good Junior prospect that led oveido and rushing last season with 613 yards, eight touchdowns, and had three 100-plus yard rushing games as a sophomore. He also had six catches for 62 yards on the season.
Strengths: Scott is a three-down back that could also be used in the passing game, he does a good job attacking the creases, and runs with good power and leg drive. He’s a north-south runner that doesn’t waste time and gets upfield quickly, nice prospect that I’m looking forward to seeing this season.
Omari Muhammad-Wyatt- Oviedo High c/o 23
Muhammad-Wyatt is one of the best sophomore linebacker prospects you’ll see in Florida, but he also is pretty good at running back as well, and in spot duty he ran for 283 yards, one touchdown, and averaged over 7 yards per carry. He’s an exceptional athlete that can play on either side of the ball at the next level.
Strengths: he’s a well-built athlete that is aggressive as a runner, also shows good vision and very good speed. He’s just an all-around fantastic football player, he can be used in the passing game as well, he does a good job seeing the hole sticking his foot in the ground and exploding up field, shows good body control and runs behind his pads. I think he’s going to blow up this year and start getting a lot of interest from schools.
Donta Whack- Seminole High
Whack looks to carry the load this season for the defending state champs, last season he was second on the team in rushing with 529 yards, six touchdowns. He’s a highly rated running back that has offers from UAB, Western Kentucky, in Eastern Michigan.
Strengths: he’s an explosive back that has home run hitting speed, he does a good job working off contact and generating yards with power, he’s very explosive and hits the seams quickly, has really good lateral agility, body control and vision, and does a very good job picking his way through the hole and following his blocks, he’s a very good prospect and a smart player that has a 3.4 GPA.

- Seminole High c/o 23
Thomas will form one of the best one-two punches in 8A with, Whack. In what was a loaded backfield last season, Thomas rush for 295 yards and two touchdowns.
Strengths: he’s a nice size back that has good vision, and runs with power and shows the ability to drop his pads and run through contact, he’s a nimble runner with acceleration and burst, he’s very effective on edge runs showing patience and sets his blocks up well and accelerates. I believe he’s in line for a big season.
