This week, we have a pretty heavy linebacker and athlete heavy group. Let’s dive into some of our prospects who submitted their film via Twitter!
JT Evans | 2022 LB | Madison Central
Evans is a run stuffing linebacker who leads the Madison Central defense. He triggers quickly on the play and can get into the backfield with ease. Evans is a strong fundamental tackler who can bring the boom when he wants to. Love his tape versus the run. He plays in space well and can cover shallow zones. Good player who plays his best ball in the run game.
Ja’Marion Scott | 2023 ATH | Tupelo
A two way player, Ja’Marion Scott plays both tight end and linebacker. At tight end, Scott is used as a 6th blocker and can leak out of the backfield off play action. He has solid hands and can turn up for a few yards after the catch. His best ball is played on the defensive side. Scott has solid get off off the ball and uses his length to be disruptive in passing lanes. Should be due for a big junior season.
Will Donald Will Donald 6'1" | 215 lbs | LB Caledonia | 2022 State MS | 2022 LB | Caledonia
Will Donald Will Donald 6'1" | 215 lbs | LB Caledonia | 2022 State MS is one of the more impressive players on his defense. He diagnoses plays quickly and has a nose for finding the football. Donald gets off blocks well and can use his speed to win. He is not afraid of contact and will step up and make an open field tackle with good form and confidence. Extremely efficient player versus the run with pass coverage upside. Will have a productive senior campaign.
Cole Owens | 2022 ATH | Starkville Academy
Cole Owens did it all for Starkville Academy last season. He spent the majority of his time at WR, but also played defensive back. Owens has good speed in the open field and can run fluid routes. He has great hands and can go up and get the ball wherever it is thrown. As a defensive back, he fills versus the run well and can make open field tackles. Owens covers a lot of ground quickly and makes plays around the field. Could see him adding some lower level college interest as his senior year progresses.
Dajuan Woods | 2022 DB | Choctaw County
A fast and productive playmaker, Dajuan Woods is a rangy safety with a ton of upside. Woods has great ball skills and knows how to time up interceptions well. He covers ground quickly and does a great job of playing sideline to sideline. Although he plays more of a free safety role, Woods can come into the box and be a good force player as well. He hits hard and plays a physical brand of football. Really like watching his tape. Surprised some of the junior colleges haven’t extended an offer yet.
Beau Holley | 2023 LB | Neshoba Central
Holley is a young and physical outside linebacker who plays on a talented Neshoba Central defense. Holley shows good hustle and ability to set the edge well. He tackles well but could add some more “pop” to his game when he hits. When he’s given a blitz call, Holley is disruptive in the quarterback’s face and forces him to be uncomfortable outside of the pocket. Look for him to make strides in the weight room this off season and have a good junior season.
