With a population of just over 10,000 in the county, Noxubee seemingly dominates in athletics. Today, we will be evaluating some of the next standouts from Noxubee County that currently list few or no offers.
Chaunssey Triplett | 2022 LB |
A downhill thumper, Chaunssey Triplett plays violent football. He stands at 6’2″ 210 and plays fast and hardnosed. Although he currently plays outside linebacker, it wouldn’t surprise me if his future position is at MIKE. Triplett is a physical kid who fills against the run well and can make some big time hits. He runs with a head full of steam and lays the ball carrier out in the open field. Against the pass, Triplett can cover shallow zones or become a pass rusher on a blitz. He takes a shot at the quarterback any time he can. Love this kid’s passion he plays with. He currently lists no college offers, but has another season left of high school ball to develop and make his name known.
Bryson Kelly | 2023 OL |
Noxubee kids always play hard. Bryson Kelly is just another example. At 6’2″ 295, Kelly has good size to be an interior lineman at the next level. Kelly has tremendous strength that he uses to absolutely crush defenders with. He has a well developed upper body and has a strong initial punch on contact. Linemen like Kelly are the types of guys you absolutely need to be successful. He plays through the whistle and finishes blocks by putting defenders on the ground. On top of that, he played a variety of positions on the offensive line last year. Fun tape to watch. Kelly has a big time ceiling ahead of him. Will be an exciting prospect to keep track of over the next two seasons.
Anthony Little Anthony Little 6'0" | 190 lbs | WR Noxubee County | 2023 State MS | 2023 ATH |
Leading all sophomore receivers in Mississippi last year, Little finished the year with over 800 yards and 4 TDs, while also contributing on the defensive side of the ball. Little is a fast and physical playmaker with the ball in his hands. With his good long speed, Little is able to create separation with ease. He also has a very smooth and natural release at the line of scrimmage. His hands are soft and he is capable of jumping up over defensive backs to come down with the ball. While his home in the future is likely on the offensive side of the ball, Little plays safety pretty dang well too. A college prospect without a doubt. Expect him to pick up some serious traction in the future.
Shunterrion Sherrod | 2023 DB |
While he isn’t the biggest at 5’9″ 160, Shunterrion Sherrod is a magnet for the football. Sherrod plays a nickel and safety roll in the secondary, but he is probably capable of playing anything in the backfield. He has great coverage skills and knows how to use his leverage to stick to a receiver. When the ball is in the air, Sherrod can use his leaping ability to get up and either intercept it or deflect it. He reads the quarterback’s eyes well and has a unique skillset that allows him to bait quarterbacks into bad or errant decisions. Even though he’s small, Sherrod isn’t afraid to step up and make a tackle. Like this guy a lot. Ballhawk.
Dequadrion Welch Dequadrion Welch 5'10" | 160 lbs | WR Noxubee County | 2024 State MS | 2024 WR |
It may be too early to tell, but Dequadrion Welch Dequadrion Welch 5'10" | 160 lbs | WR Noxubee County | 2024 State MS was as starting receiver last season for a big time program. He didn’t have a ton of production last season, but he was an excellent blocker in space. Welch has a good release at the line of scrimmage and clearly has the lower body twitch that will make him a great player. Welch already lists an offer from Wingate. Watching this guy closely over the next season. Speaks volumes that he was already a role player as a freshman.
