With veteran head coach and alumnus Kyler Hall running the show, these Bulldogs have some bite – and after an impressive 8-3 season in 2020 – the news is real good for this coming year.
As spring is just a few weeks away, this is a team that will play on this past season – when they lost a heart-breaker (21-20) to Pensacola Pine Forest, ending the season. But in between that tough setback to Pine Forest, and losses to Gainesville Buchholz (59-42) and 1A power Madison County (32-14), there were wins – and that is what the Bulldogs will use as they head into the 2021 season.
Those victories over Alachua Santa Fe (41-10), Jasper Hamilton County (38-6), Starke Bradford County (38-20), Palatka (47-0), Crawfordville Wakulla (21-0), Ponte Vedra (14-0), Baker County (35-32) and a 14-7 playoff win against Jacksonville Terry Parker will go a long way this coming season.
RISING SENIORS ARE SET
With a number of quality rising seniors in the 2022 class, this team is set to go – in many ways.
Among those game-changers include Terrell Atkinson (DB/WR, 5-9, 160 – 3.0 GPA), Garrison Beach (WR/DB, 5-11, 175 – 3.8 GPA), Jamariai Brooks (OL, 6-4, 275 – 2.66 GPA), Andrew Brown (LB, 6-1, 215), Malachi Graham (Athlete, 5-10, 170 – 3.0 GPA), Antonio McKinney (DE/OLB, 6-3. 190 – 2.9 GPA), Travis McKinney (DB, 5-11, 170), Austin Smith (DE/LB, 6-1, 190 – 3.3 GPA) and offensive lineman Braxton Thompson (6-5, 275).
UNDERCLASSMEN WILL ADD DEPTH
If the Bulldogs are to get where they want to be this season, the underclassmen in 2023 and 2024 will need to step up and make an impact.
Among those prospects in the Class of 2023 are Zy Alexander (OL/DL, 5-11, 270 – 2.75 GPA), D.J. Coleman (DB, 5-11, 165 – 2.7 GPA), Braxtyn Green Braxtyn Green K Live Oak Suwannee | 2023 FL (K/P, 5-9, 140 – 3.88 GPA), Trevion Milton (Athlete, 5-9, 170 – 2.7 GPA), Brandon Robinson Brandon Robinson 5'11" | 195 lbs | RB Live Oak Suwannee | 2023 FL (RB, 5-10, 205, 2.6 GPA) and standout athlete Javarion Smith Javarion Smith 5'10" | 160 lbs | WR Live Oak Suwanee | 2023 FL (5-10, 160 – 2.6 GPA).
In the rising sophomore class of 2024, look for Jacob Dyer (LB, 5-11, 190), Camdon Frier (WR, 6-0, 185 – 4.0 GPA), Kodi Lang (QB/FS 5-11, 170 – 3.0 GPA) and running back Marquavious Owens (5-8, 160 – 3.11 GPA) to raise their game.
