Fayetteville and Bentonville are two teams that have numerous talented individuals, and it will be interesting to see how the annual game between those two teams play out this season. In part two, we will continue our look at the talent that is in the 7-A West conference.
Ryan Maxwell Ryan Maxwell 5'8" | 155 lbs | DB Fayetteville | 2022 State AR -Defensive Back-Fayetteville
Maxwell has the talent to take a wide receiver away from the opposing offense. He uses his hands very well to jam the wide receiver, but also pick off the pass that is thrown in his direction. Maxwell is extremely fluid and can flip his hips well. He makes the game look easy and can frustrate opposing wide receivers in the process. Maxwell is one of the cornerbacks in the state and he has the talent to play division one football on Saturdays. Keep an eye on this young man and watch how opposing offenses try to stay away from his side of the field.
Drew Wright Drew Wright 6'3" | 195 lbs | QB Bentonville | 2022 State AR -Quarterback-Bentonville
The Bentonville quarterback does a terrific job of extending the play by moving around in the pocket. Wright uses his 6-3 frame well to scan the field. He will also take off when needed and run the football. He has the arm strength to make all the throws and he has plenty of weapons all over the field. He is an efficient quarterback, particularly in the red zone, where he throws the fade patterns extremely well. Wright is a player to keep an eye on in the 7-A West. Bentonville has plenty of talent all over the field and the college scouts will enjoy what they get to see this year.
Breyndon Tally Breyndon Tally 6'2" | 200 lbs | LB Bentonville West | 2022 State AR -Linebacker-Bentonville West
Tally does an excellent job of identifying the play. He fills the rushing lanes well and moves to make the tackle with good speed. At 6-2 and 200-pounds, Tally can play the linebacker and defensive end spots with equal effectiveness. Tally has the speed to avoid blockers and can live in the opposing offensive backfield if the opposing offensive line does not account for him. Tally is going to be a player to watch this season, he has plenty of potential to create problems for the opposing offense and he is a player that can be all over the field if not accounted for quickly.
Brady Porter Brady Porter 6'3" | 220 lbs | DL Rogers | 2022 State AR -Defensive Line-Rogers
In 2020, the Rogers Mounties took some impressive steps into to being contenders on a yearly basis. The defensive side of the ball is what really stands out this season for the Mounties. Brady Porter Brady Porter 6'3" | 220 lbs | DL Rogers | 2022 State AR is a player to keep an eye on this season for the Mounties. He does a great job of being able to fend off blocks and get into the opposing offensive backfield. Porter makes good use of his size and speed and if he cannot get to the quarterback, he has shown that he will knock the pass down. Porter is a prospect that has the potential to have an excellent season for the Mounties.
Zach Medlin Zach Medlin 6'0" | 170 lbs | DB Fort Smith Southside | 2022 State AR -Defensive Back-Fort Smith Southside
Medlin played well for Southside last season. He has shown a knack for always being around the football. Medlin does a good job of playing the ball in the air. He will either knock the ball away from the wide receiver or pick the pass off himself. Medlin is a solid player for the Southside defense, and he has the potential to have an impressive season for the Mavericks. Southside is in a tough conference and they will be leaning on the defense to force turnovers and get the opposing offense off of the field this season.
