We covered the passing leaders and the receiving leaders, which means it’s time to highlight the players on the rushing end of the offense. All of these rushers have worked hard to claim their place in the spotlight by putting on a show every time they step onto the field. Many of these players have been able to show their athleticism on both sides of the ball.
Here is a quick rundown of ten of the top rushers through the first half of the season.
Ja’Derris Carr Ja’Derris Carr 5'11" | RB Vista PEAK | 2021 State CO | Vista PEAK | 5’11”, 180lbs | 2021 RB/DB
Carr is Prep Redzone CO’s top-ranked running back in the 2021 class for reasons that he continues to reinforce on a weekly basis. Through the first three games of the season, he has accounted for 39 carries for 559 yards and 10 touchdowns. As a receiver, Carr has one catch that went 28 yards for a touchdown.
Joshua Garduno | Ellicott | 5’7” | 2021 RB/FS
Garduno has carried the ball 75 times for 473 yards and two touchdowns. He also has one single reception that turned into a 28 yard touchdown. The senior athlete has definitely worked hard to capitalize on the spring season and show that he can be a valuable offensive asset.
Blake Nieslanik | Glenwood Springs | 6’1”, 180lbs | 2022 RB/OLB
So far this season, Nieslanik has a total of 41 carries for 440 yards and five touchdowns as a rusher. As a receiver, he has caught two passes for a total of 50 yards and two touchdowns. Nieslanik has certainly raised his stock value through the first half of the season.

Kaden Wolf | Rifle | 6’2”, 230lbs | 2021 RB/LB
Wolf has been very productive for the Bears. He has managed to rack up a total of 436 yards and five touchdowns on 58 carries during the first half of the season. In the second game of the season, Wolf ran for more than 220 yards and found the endzone four times.
Gavin Webb | Basalt | 5’10”, 185lbs | 2022 RB/DB
As an offensive player, Webb has 46 carries for 414 yards and six touchdowns, and he has two receptions for a total of 28 yards. Defensively, he has accounted for six tackles and one pass breakup.
Everett Ellis | St. Mary’s | 6’0” | 2022 RB
Ellis has 46 carries for 365 yards and three touchdowns as a rusher. As a receiver, he has caught two passes for a total of 65 yards and one touchdown. Defensively, Ellis has a total of 27 tackles, two pass deflections, and one forced fumble.
Darius McFarland Darius McFarland RB Falcon | 2022 State CO | Falcon | 5’11”, 183lbs | 2022 RB/FS
Over the course of his first two games in this season, McFarland carried the ball 28 times for 321 yards and two touchdowns. Even without his stats from his most recent game, his numbers are extremely impressive. McFarland is showing that he has what it takes to be a productive three-down running back at the next level.
Jewel Cameron | Manuel | 5’8”, 140lbs | 2022 RB/QB/CB
Cameron has produced some impressive stats in four different categories over the course of the first three games this season. He has 38 rushing attempts for 291 yards and three touchdowns, and he has one reception that went 14 yards for a touchdown. As a passer, he has completed five of his 13 attempts for a total of 136 yards and one touchdown. Defensively, Cameron has three total tackles and one interception for a 20 yard return.
Coleman Teasdale | Centaurus | 6’2”, 180lbs | 2022 QB
Teasdale is a quarterback who is extremely dangerous as a runner. Through the first three games of the season, he has a total of 44 carries for 290 yards and five touchdowns. As a passer, he has completed 32 of his 61 attempts for 315 yards and one touchdown.
Avery Shunneson Avery Shunneson 6'1" | LB Thomas Jefferson | 2021 State CO | Thomas Jefferson | 6’1”, 225lbs | 2021 RB/MLB
Shunneson has helped his team remain undefeated through the first three games of the season by racking up 36 carries for 287 yards and four touchdowns. Defensively, he has accounted for 30 total tackles and one pass breakup. With his size alone, Shunneson is an absolute bruiser of a ball carrier.
