Using a five-part series, we looked at four from each classification who we’ve found can be counted on whether their team is looking to move the football or stop an opponent from doing just that. In Part 4, we introduce you to four players who absolutely make their teams go.
Jacob Osmanski Jacob Osmanski 6'0" | 170 lbs | WR Pelion | 2022 State SC , WR/QB/DB, Pelion
When coach Dann Holland was left without a quarterback last fall, he knew he wasn’t looking for a gunslinger – just someone who could run the offense. He went with receiver and safety Jacob Osmanski Jacob Osmanski 6'0" | 170 lbs | WR Pelion | 2022 State SC , and it’s safe to say it worked out. Pelion won its first region championship in 15 years. Osmanski will likely switch back to receiver, but his duel-threat capabilities remain.
Ethan Dugat Ethan Dugat 6'4" | 270 lbs | OL Landrum | 2022 State SC , OL/DL, Landrum
In every seal block on offense and every pursuit tackle, you can see that Dugat knows two positions very well. The 6-foot-4, 270-pound defensive and offensive tackle rotates his whole body to the point of attack. The Cardinals will rely on him plenty next fall, when he’s a hair bigger and he’s got one last chance to prove himself.
Damarion McCaskill Damarion McCaskill 5'9" | 185 lbs | RB Cheraw | 2022 State SC , RB/DB, Cheraw
McCaskill can clearly run the ball, as his team-leading 794 yards and seven scores pushed Cheraw to the playoffs last year. He averaged better than 6 yards per carry. It (slightly) covered up the fact that he’s a pretty good cornerback, too. McCaskill tallied 11 total tackles and an interception last year in a season that was cut way short.
Roman Wadford Roman Wadford 5'10" | 170 lbs | DB Timberland | 2022 State SC , RB/DB, Timberland
Wadford is a one-man wrecking crew as a tailback, wildcat quarterback, safety and return man, capable of scoring or at least making a highly influential play every time the ball is snapped. Frankly, no matter who the Wolves are playing, he’s going to be among the most athletics players – if not the most athletic player – on the field.
