Continue ReadingWelcome back for Week 4’s Top Performers! We are going to start this week diving into the offensive side first. This week we have one of the largest groups of submissions we have ever had. We have 14 athletes to highlight in this week’s article. Lots of next level talent and some crazy production are setting us up for a fun day of film analysis! Let’s not wait around. We have a little bit of everything this week. QB, WR, RB, OL, seniors, juniors, and sophomores. We are officially past the halfway point of the spring and these kids have hit their stride. Here we go!
Chase Hanselman, 2021 WR- Neenah
Stat Line: 7 Receptions, 95 Receiving Yds, 1 TD, Game Winning 2 Pt. Conv. in OT
This was definitely one of the best games of the week. Came down to the final play of the game. A play that Chase made. The 6’1″ 185 lbs didn’t just make the game winning two point conversion. He also set his team up on the doorstep for the TD before the attempt on a well run post route from the slot. Something I noticed on that play and his other plays in his film is that he is consistently able to create space for his QB with his route running. Chase does a good job of being able to change directions while maintaining his speed leading to that separation. He is a reliable target too because he knows how to go and get the football when it’s in the air. The game winning catch shows that off really well. Check it out!

Bryce Barbian Bryce Barbian 6'1" | 190 lbs | QB Cudahy | 2021 State WI , 2022 QB- Cudahy
Stat Line: 21/33, 222 Passing Yds, 2 Passing TDs, 7 Carries, 48 Rushing Yds, 1 Rushing TD
I wasn’t able to get much for film from this performance, but I do want to highlight Bryce quickly. First off, just by going off the stat line it looks like it was another strong week for Barbian. The highlight I saw of him shows his ability to maneuver inside and outside the pocket and buy time before getting the ball downfield. Bryce made the decision to reclassify to the 2022 Class and will be attending Tennessee Valley Prep this fall. D3- D2 range schools should definitely make a note to keep an eye on his development over the summer and his play this coming fall. If he continues developing I see the potential for a lot of interest from that range.
Jackson Warren, 2022 WR- La Crosse Central
Stat Line: 1 Reception, 6 Receiving Yds, 6 Carries, 67 Rushing Yds, 1 Rushing TD
Jackson is a jet sweep specialist for Central. The duty fits his athletic traits well. At 6’ 180 lbs he has some physicality to break arm tackles and his speed allows him the ability to break contain and then turn up field to pick up big yards. His patience after the hand off is what sets him apart from a standard WR. He isn’t just flying by and breaking contain. He allows his blocks to get out in front of him so that he can use his vision to find the seams and running lanes. Not very often a WR makes the Top Performers for his rushing production that week. Jackson’s Week 4 Highlights
Alexander Schmitz Alexander Schmitz 6'3" | 180 lbs | WR Big Foot | 2022 State WI , 2022 WR- Big Foot
Stat Line: 5 Receptions, 168 Receiving YDs, 1 TD
I was able to get out and see Alex live this week and I came away very impressed. He looked all of his listed 6’2″ and has the frame to carry more weight than he currently has. I mentioned it in my Players of the Game article, but Alex absolutely shined when targeted down the field. On almost every catch he showed off his ability to track the ball in the air and adjust to it so that he can give himself the best chance of coming down with it. Another thing I noticed live and on his film is that he was able to create separation in his routes with subtle head fakes or jab steps that would do just enough to get the DB out of position and allow him to get past them and create separation. Alex’s Week 4 Highlights
Jack McHugh-Sake Jack McHugh-Sake 6'5" | 230 lbs | TE La Crosse Logan | 2021 State WI , 2021 TE- La Crosse Logan
Stat Line: 5 Receptions, 85 Receiving Yds
If you caught last week’s top performers you saw that Jack made the list mostly for his dominant performance as a run blocker. The blocking is still there, but this week he makes it for his play in the passing game. Jack proved this week that he can stretch the field from the traditional in-line TE position and split out wide. Wherever he was lined up, Jack’s week four shows how much of a mismatch he is as a receiver. Coming in at 6’5″ 230 lbs, Jack still has the speed to stretch the field and his ability to high point the ball over the top of DBs is next level. There are also a couple of really clean routes in this film too. SMSU is getting a complete TE with Jack. Jack’s Week 4 Highlights
Remy Rassbach Remy Rassbach 5'9" | 165 lbs | RB Eau Claire North | 2022 State WI , 2022 RB/ATH- Eau Claire North
Stat Line: 10 Carries, 108 Rushing Yds, 1 Rushing TD, 1 Reception, 21 Receiving Yds
Remy is an exciting prospect to watch. The 5’9″ 165 lbs RB comes with the traits you look for in a potential change of pace back. His acceleration through the hole, short area agility, and top end speed come together in this week’s film to create several big plays and over 10 yards per carry. Remy has natural instincts and vision with the ball in his hands too. It’s very apparent as he quickly weaves his way through the defense on his way to those big plays. This is one of my first times watching Remy. I will be keeping a closer eye on him going forward because he is a big play waiting to happen. Remy’s Week 4 Highlights
Colin O’Neil Colin O’Neil 5'10" | 175 lbs | RB Cashton | 2023 State WI , 2023 ATH- Cashton
Stat Line: 182 Rushing Yds, 3 Rushing TDs, 1 2 PT Conv. Bonus: 3 Tackles, 1 TFL
Colin is a small school prospect to keep your eyes on over the next couple years. It will be interesting to see how he develops as an RB and as a DB. On offense, Colin has enough speed to take his touches to the house, but where I really like him is his power. A lot of his plays this week show him breaking through arm tackles before breaking into the open field. In the open field, Colin has the wiggle and lateral agility to make defenders miss in space. It will be interesting to see how his body fills out to match those traits. He is currently 5’10″ 165 lbs. Colin’s Week 4 Highlights
Mason Herlitzke, 2022 QB/ATH- La Crosse Central
Stat Line: 125 Passing Yds, 1 Passing TD, 109 Rushing Yds, 4 Rushing TDs
Another week, another exciting and productive performance from Mason. The 5’8″ 160 lbs dual threat QB might not be a QB prospect for the next level, but is definitely an athlete that can play at the next level. He has the long speed to create big plays on the ground and even though he does have good speed I think he is even more quicker than he is fast. His ability to change directions and juke defenders without hesitation or deceleration is what you want in an ATH. When he decides to tuck it and run he can hit top speed in just a couple of steps. The potential for what he can do at the next level is pretty vast. Anything that can let him play out in space. Slot WR/corner, change of pace RB. Whatever you need along those lines I feel Mason could perform. Mason’s Week 4 Highlights
Drew Hanson Drew Hanson 6'2" | 190 lbs | QB Edgerton | 2021 State WI , 2021 QB- Edgerton
Stat Line: 22/36, 258 Passing Yds, 3 Passing TDs, 1 Rushing TD
This is not Drew’s first week as a top performer, but it is his first as a COMMITTED senior. Last Monday Drew made the decision to commit to UW- Oshkosh. I really liked what this week of filmed shows up about Drew’s game. The major factor was how well he handled the heavy pressure that was getting to him. Drew was able to counter the pressure with his ability to deliver accurate passes on the run to either side and his ability to get passes off while throwing off platform. His poise in those situations were key to the offense’s success this past week. If he can carry that over to the next level the lefty will have a solid amount of tools and traits to compete with as he tries to earn the starting job. Drew’s Week 4 Highlights
Konner Knauf Konner Knauf 5'10" | 170 lbs | WR Edgerton | 2021 State WI , 2021 WR- Edgerton
Stat Line: 13 Receptions, 138 Receiving Yds, 1 TD
The WR on the receiving end of a lot of Drew’s completions in Week Four was Konner. It was a very productive week for Konner as he was able to find the endzone and also average over 10 yards per reception. Konner is crazy consistent. You can watch any route from any week of film and you get the same effort, the same sharp route running, the same college level speed, and the same naturally soft hands. Having a WR like that that you can trust is huge for a QB and I think it will make him an athlete that is able to play pretty early at the next level. This week Konner was also able to show off his strength after the catch. His last play has him breaking multiple tackles and there are other plays throughout the film where it took a couple defenders to bring him down.

Darrin Lowney Darrin Lowney 6'1" | 270 lbs | OL Superior | 2022 State WI , 2022 OL- Superior
Darrin was assigned with a huge task on offense in Week Four. He was given the assignment of blocking one of Wisconsin’s top IDL in Martell Owens Martell Owens 6'2" | 285 lbs | DL La Crosse Logan | 2022 State WI along with the rest of Logan’s interior DLinemen. They had a back and forth battle where at different times each got the upper hand. It was great to see Darrin competing against that level of competition. It really put his abilities into perspective. Based off what I saw in his offensive highlights he has good anchor strength and when he can get his hands inside of the defender he does a good job of being able to drive them off the line and control them. This was another one of the week’s top games as it ended being a 1 point win for Superior. Every rep Lowney won was needed to pull off the victory. Lowney impressed me and he earned the right to have college programs check out his film if they haven’t. Darrin’s Week 4 Highlights
Gabe Herman Gabe Herman 6'3" | 215 lbs | QB De Pere | 2023 State WI , 2023 QB- De Pere
Stat Line: 61 Passing Yds, 1 Passing TD, 13 Carries, 99 Rushing Yds, 1 Rushing TD
Gabe didn’t have his best passing performance in Week Four, so instead of forcing it he showed off his dual threat ability as he rushed for nearly 100 yards and a score on the way to the victory. The 6’3″ 200 lbs QB doesn’t seem like a big threat to run, but I think that is because he is a long strider when he gets out in the open field. It can be deceiving when it comes to his speed. Gabe also isn’t afraid to use that frame to be a physical runner. He broke through arm tackles with ease, lowered his shoulder to go through defenders, and it usually took several defenders to finally drag him down. As he continues to develop and put his arm talent and dual threat ability together I think Gabe could become one of Wisconsin’s top QBs in the Class of 2023. The arm talent is there. The athleticism is there. I’m looking forward to him putting it all together and further developing it over the next two and a half seasons. Gabe’s Week 4 Highlights
Addison Ostrenga Addison Ostrenga 6'5" | 220 lbs | TE Sun Prairie | 2022 State WI , 2022 WR/TE/LB- Sun Prairie
Stat Line: 6 Receptions, 131 Receiving Yds. Bonus: 8 Total Tackles
What a performance and a hard fought victory for Ostrenga and Sun Prairie this past week. He could of made this week’s top performers for either side of the ball. The Iowa baseball commit flashed some very quick hands at the catch point, including an impressive one handed snag on his first catch of the film. The fact that he was lining up out wide while being 6’5″ 220 lbs was forcing the DBs to give him a cushion that Sun Prairie took advantage of as they targeted Addison on slants and screens. That way he could get the ball quickly and use his speed and strength to create a ton of yards after the catch. Ostrenga is a very smooth athlete for that size and he seemed like even more of a freakish athlete on defense. On defense, Addison did a great job of setting the edge against the run and proved that he can play out in space and drop into coverage. Part of me thinks that maybe Iowa Football should try and borrow him during the fall semesters… The baseball department might not be a huge fan of that idea though, so I’ll keep dreaming. Addison’s Week 4 Highlights
Kamron Gothard, 2021 ATH- Sun Prairie
Stat Line: 5 Receptions, 86 Receiving Yds. Bonus: 5 Pass Breakups
If college programs are still looking for a versatile athlete then you have to check out Kamron. Kamron is another player who could have made either Top Performers article this week because he broke up as many passes on defense as he caught on offense. At 6’ 200 lbs he has a really solid frame and to go with it he has the play speed to stretch the field. Take a look at his first play of his week four highlights for evidence. He is a tough tackle after the catch too. That frame comes with some nice strength and contact balance. The ball skills carry over from offense to defense too as he does a good job of timing when to get his hands to the catch point to effect it and break up the pass. Kamron’s Week 4 Highlights
Adam Timbrook Adam Timbrook 5'7" | 190 lbs | RB De Pere | 2021 State WI , 2021 RB- De Pere
Stat Line: 21 Carries, 188 Rushing Yds, 1 TD
Adam has gotten better and better. The 5’7″ 185 lbs RB has a thick, compact frame that comes with surprising power. That compact frame also gives him a very low center of gravity that gives him the contact balance to bounce off and run through defenders consistently. Adam also flashed a strong stiff arm that kept defenders at bay this week. Timbrook is at his best between the tackles where he can use that contact balance and strength along with his quickness. I really enjoy watching Adam play. He looks like he is purely reacting to what he sees, instead of thinking. He trusts his instincts and it results in big games like this for the workhorse. Adam’s Week 4 Highlights
