On April 16th, the Granada Hills Highlanders battled the former city champs, Birmingham High School. Under the coaching of Bucky Brooks, Granada is a young team with grit and dedication. Though the Highlanders came up short to the Patriots, there were some great displays of talent that will appeal to college programs all over the country. Here are a few of the Granada players that turned heads.
Sam Abeduro, RB, 6’0″ 200lbs, SR, Granada Hills High School
With this run heavy team, Abeduro is a crucial player for the Highlanders’ offense. He showed his importance to the team on Friday night. Being a hard runner, Abeduro ran through defenders, taking two or three opponents with him every run. He shows toughness in his running, while also showcasing his speed and agility when torching past the opponent’s linebacker core. Abeduro pounded his way into the end zone for a conversion for the Highlander’s while grabbing tough yards all game. After the game, I got a chance to speak with Sam regarding his football career. He had nothing but positive things to say about his team and his athletic future, mentioning a few schools that he is interested in. Sam is going to be a big time player in the next level.
Dijon Stanley, RB/DB, 5’11” 175lbs, SO, Granada Hills High School
Stanley is a young player also playing RB for the Highlanders. Stanley pulled in two touchdowns against Birmingham and showed his agility throughout the entirety of the game. There was not a single moment that Stanley stepped off the field, playing CB on the defensive side of the ball. Stanley played a huge role on defense as well, making crucial tackles for Granada Hills. Stanley has been showing up on the field every week, putting up insane numbers in previous weeks. With just a 5 game season due to COVID, Stanley is using his time wisely while on the field, creating opportunities for him to be a big recruit in a quick season. Dijon is an agile player with good size for an athlete his age. He will be an absolute unit in the college football sector without a doubt.
Cooper Brown, DB, 6’0″, 170lbs, JR, Granada Hills High School
Cooper Brown was an outstanding defensive player for the Highlanders on Friday night. Brown flew around the ball and found his way into almost every play. He put his nose into the pile and showed how important playing with passion is in the game of football. Brown showcased his elusive speed by getting around opponents and double teams. Cooper was one of the most passionate players on the field staying vocal with his teammates and bringing a sense of pride onto the gridiron for the young team. Brown can be a great player at the next level with his potential and passion for the game he displays throughout his performances.
