Continue ReadingOver the last few weeks, we’ve been sent thousands of highlight tapes from players across the country. We still have a good chunk to get through, but I wanted to highlight some very talented prospects that are slipping through the cracks right now. This piece will focus on four 2022 prospects who had tremendous junior seasons and could be big-time college players at their respective levels.
WR: Will Doetch, 5’11, 170, North Boone, IL
Will first appeared on my radar last spring as a sophomore. He displayed a good amount of ability but took a colossal jump this spring. In only four games, Doetch put up 533 receiving yards & 14 TD’s. He gashed defense after defense with his precise route running and a knack for making something happen after the catch. He’s shown crisp cuts and has given defenders serious issues on outward breaking routes. The build-up speed is there, as is the natural ball tracking. He’s shown good wiggle as a return man and exceptional vision to get north & south quickly. I love this kid’s potential as a slot receiver and think he could be a serious small-school sleeper.
OL: Caleb Hulbutta, 6’2, 250, El Reno, OK
What he may lack in sheer height, he makes up for in physicality and toughness. Caleb explodes off the football and can get his second step in the ground fast. Once he locks on, good luck getting out of his grasp. Caleb is a pure finisher who will play from whistle to whistle and won’t ease up one bit. Regardless of the defender’s angle, Caleb consistently gets his hands inside and will take the defender where he doesn’t want to go. Based on his size, I do see him kicking down inside. I think he’s shown the potential to play both guard or center at the next level. I would not want to see him pulling right at me.
RB: Jalyn Daniels Jalyn Daniels 5'10" | 170 lbs | RB Tallassee | 2022 State AL , 5’10, 170, Tallassee, AL,
I got a tip about Daniels from DexPreps down in Alabama. This is a surehanded back with blazing speed once he accelerates with the ball in his hands. He consistently outruns angles and will make you pay if you don’t set the edge. Daniels has shown time and time again that he can run through arm tackles and can bounce off would-be tacklers with his balance and will. His change of direction is just silly and often leads to defenders lying on the ground. I have no question you’re looking at an FBS caliber back.
DB: Jaivion Green, 6’3, 190, Lamar, TX
The evolution of tall defensive backs continues, and Mr. Green is no exception. This is a physical safety prospect with natural hands and good instincts. Green does a good job reading the quarterback’s shoulders and breaking on the football. He can close space in the open field and will come to balance before making a tackle. He eats up intermediate routes in man coverage and will stick his long arms out for PBU’s. To me, this is another FBS caliber prospect that people need to know.
