These are some of the under-the-radar prospects that have been making plays the past three seasons, hence, the reason for their spots in the class rankings. If they haven’t grabbed the headlines already, these guys are sure to turn more than just a few heads this upcoming season.
The first linebacker on this list is Ben Davis’ Myron Green Myron Green 6'4" | 230 lbs | LB Ben Davis | 2022 State IN . Green, and his teammate Keoke Toomer Keoke Toomer 6'1" | 200 lbs | LB Ben Davis | 2022 State IN , are both in our state rankings, giving Ben Davis a tie with Lawrence North for the most linebackers on the list. At 6’1 Green may be a little bit undersized, but he plays much bigger than his size. Green is very fast and very instinctive. He knows where the hole is going to open and can get there before blockers can get set up. Green can also put his hand in the ground and rush the passer from the defensive end spot. Green tallied ten quarterback hurries and three sacks in 2020. Myron Green Myron Green 6'4" | 230 lbs | LB Ben Davis | 2022 State IN would be the perfect addition for any high major college program.
Fort Branch is the site where another star linebacker plays as Gibson Southern’s Adrean Lukeman has proven himself to be an elite-level prospect. Lukeman is a tenacious run-stopper. He does an outstanding job setting the edge and driving back those who are attempting to block him. The way he drives them back makes it difficult for a running back to decide whether to put his foot in the ground or continue going east and west. The way that Lukeman sets the edge allows for the rest of the defense to flow to the football. Adrean Lukeman is a hard-nosed, physical player that would be a corner stone for any elite defense.
Westfield’s Bryson Hoover Bryson Hoover 6'1" | 220 lbs | LB Westfield | 2022 State IN serves as the Shamrocks’ punter. That is quite ironic, considering that with the way he plays, punting is almost inevitable for opposing offenses. Hoover did it all for Westfield in 2020, totaling 64 tackles with sixteen of those being solo. Hoover has great pursuit to the football. He also gets into the backfield consistently. Hoover makes plays all over the field and his hustle and non-stop effort make him a prospect that college coaches need to have.
To conclude, we head to Lawrence North High School where Romarro Warren anchors the defense for the Wildcats. Warren is a player who embraces the physical nature of the game. For starters, he plays both middle linebacker and fullback. But that is not the only sign of Warren’s toughness. Warren racked up an astonishing 119 tackles a season ago. On top of that, he also had five sacks. Warren is a relentless player that is a great blocker and he shows relentless pursuit to the ball. Romarro Warren is a heart-and-soul type of player that coaches, teammates and fans will love at the next level.
Indiana possesses an unreal amount of talent at linebacker in the Class of 2022. The prospects have the ability to be big-time players and leaders at the next level. I cannot wait to watch what they do in fall as Seniors. One thing is for sure, offensive coordinators are going to have to draw up something special when these guys come around. Otherwise, it figures to be a long day on the offensive side of the ball.
