Between Macon, Warner Robins, and all the other small towns in the middle Georgia, the area continually produces elite talent, especially at the wide receiver position. This area of the peach state has produced three current NFL wide receivers in Demarcus Robinson (Peach County / KC Chiefs), Quintez Cephus (Stratford Academy / Detroit Lions), and Marquez Callaway (Warner Robins / New Orleans Saints).
The area is full of talent once again and some of them have the best hands in the state. Here are some of the top WRs to know in middle Georgia for the 2021 season…
Jaden Mobley – Bleckley County
If you’re looking for a 2023 breakout receiver, look no further than Bleckley County’s Jaden Mobley. He may be on the lighter side as it relates to his weight, but that didn’t stop him from having an excellent sophomore season last year. His athleticism and ability to get yards after the catch stand out the most, but Mobley showed that he has some of the most reliable hands in the state as he hauled in 38 passes last year on a team that’s not known for slinging the football around. When Bleckley County went to the air, they went to Mobley, and more often than not, it turned out well for the Royals. He showed he can make the tough over-the-shoulder grab down the field, but he can also snatch the ball quickly on a quick slant or screen pass.
Daveon Walker – Warner Robins
As we said earlier, the Demons of Warner Robins are always producing top receiver talent and they have another special one in Walker. The 6-foot-2 180-pounder showed off his big, strong hands all last season as he reeled in 49 passes for 790 yards and 7 touchdowns. His consistent hands made him a constant downfield threat in a high-powered passing offense that went on to win the 5A state championship. Walker saw a lot of balls come his way and he was always there to make the grab. He does a nice job or turning and twisting his body in the air and does a great job of holding onto the ball when making a tough grab in coverage. He can reach back and snag the ball when it’s thrown behind him and makes it look easy while he does it. Walker was also a standout at the Atlanta MVP Camp last month where he ran a 4.61 laser-timed 40-yard dash, had a 34″ reach, and showed off his consistent hands.
Jaden Hayes – Macon County
One of the biggest playmakers in the entire area, Hayes showed off his excellent hands all season as a junior and the tape backs it up. The 6-foot-1 180-pounder brought down some tough grabs all season and started to make a name for himself with his 41 catches for 613 yards and 6 touchdowns. His balance and big-play ability made him the go-to target for Macon County, but his hands appeared to be some of the best in the entire region. He high-points the football well in the air and has a knack for coming down with ball when having a defender draped all over him. He was a consistent threat in the red-zone and his hands made him the easiest option when Macon County needed a score. Look for him to haul in even more grabs as a senior this fall.
