2023 Manchester QB Cody Shelton Cody Shelton 5'10" | 200 lbs | QB Life Christian Academy | 2023 State VA
A day after attending UVA’s spring game, Shelton came and competed at the Under Armour camp and did quite well for himself. Shelton showed off a quick release that colleges will love, along with a good arm that should serve him well as he continues in recruiting. Shelton hooked up with teammate Romon Brown on some throws and you could see the connection the two have.
Shelton is ranked 6th in our 2023 rankings.
2024 Norcom (Portsmouth) WR Jaden Ratliff
One of two 2024s on this list, Ratliff had great hands and can run routes with the best of them. His speed is also going to be a bonus. Coming off his first season at Norcom, Ratliff proved what he can do on the field and backed it up at the camp over the weekend.
While we haven’t released 2024 rankings yet, I would have Ratliff in my top ten at least right now. Currently, Ratliff holds an offer from Maryland but hopes to add more this summer
2024 Oscar Smith DB Asaad Brown Jr
The star of the 2024 class, I saw Brown play both sides of the ball last year for Portsmouth Christian but his primary focus going forward will be at DB, not to say he wouldn’t make a fine FBS WR also though and he has very good hands and some good speed which will help him keep up with WRs when he is at DB, and help him separate when he is at WR.
Rankings aren’t out yet for the 2024 class but Brown is my number one player in that class, with Green Run (Va Beach) WR Keylen Adams a close second.
Brown has a laundry list of offers so far including Ole Miss, Louisiana-Monroe, Florida State, Maryland, Pitt, Old Dominion, UVA, Virginia Tech, and UNC.
2023 Warwick DB Davion Corpening
Corpening showed some good speed and good hands during drills and one-on-ones. Aside from on the field, Corpening has a good head on his shoulders and has a high motor on the field. While he didn’t make our initial 2023 rankings, he should slot into them when we issue our next update.
Corpening does have an offer from Maryland and has a full summer planned as he has been invited to camps at Wake Forest and Vanderbilt and has been getting interest from UNC, Syracuse, and Pitt as of late.
2023 Kempsville (Va Beach) RB Quran Boyd
Boyd has been part of a Kempsvill team working hard to turn the culture around after a six-year losing streak was snapped last season and they saw more success in the shortened spring season this year.
Boyd has good vision, and good speed out of the backfield. Boyd could probably also play wideout as his hands are pretty good also and at 5’11″, he may be too tall for RB by the time it’s all said of done.
