2022 Oscar Smith (Chesapeake) DB Sherrod Covil Sherrod Covil 6'0" | 185 lbs | DB Oscar Smith | 2022 State VA
Covil came to compete on his birthday the day after winning a state title with Oscar Smith and he really showed out. Covil has great ball skills, can cover great, has quickness, and it’s easy to see why almost 40 FBS schools so far have offered him. Covil is committed to the 2022 Under Armour game and picked up his #Committed shirt at the event along with helping handout another invite in a ceremony towards the end of camp.
Every time I see Covil I’m more impressed. Covil is currently ranked 10th in our 2022 Rankings here
2022 Avalon School (Centreville) LB Caleb Wheatland Caleb Wheatland 6'2" | 220 lbs | LB Westfield | 2022 State VA
This was my first time seeing Wheatland and I am more than impressed. With an interception during drills, Wheatland showed off his ability to find the ball and some sure hands which, from a linebacker can’t always be assumed. Wheatland has some good speed and some really good footwork. Apparently, the rest of the staff there saw what I saw also, as Wheatland was named the LB MVP for the event.
Wheatland has offers from Kent State, Morgan State, Old Dominion, Liberty, UMass, Ball State, Utah State, and Monmouth. Wheatland is ranked 44th in our 2022 rankings.
2022 St. Christopher’s (Chesterfield) WR Andre Greene Andre Greene 6'3" | 180 lbs | WR St. Christopher's School | 2022 State VA Jr
59. That’s how many offers Greene has so far and every time I see him I can see why. Greene has elite hands, amazing speed runs routes to perfection, and has the size you want in a WR at the FBS level. Overall, one of the most impressive recruits I saw at the camp, Green has a super bright future ahead of him.
Greene was named the MVP of the wideouts at camp for good reason as he is a pass-catching machine. Greene is ranked 8th in our 2022 rankings. Some of his bigger offers are from FSU, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Oklahoma, and Texas among a host of other power five schools.
2022 Forest Park (Woodbridge) DE Gilbert Tongrongou Gilbert Tongrongou 6'4" | 250 lbs | DL Forest Park | 2022 State VA
Tongrongou has been making a splash in recruiting as he has begun to pick up his first offers after coaches wanted to see a little more video of the fast, big defensive end from northern Virginia, and every offer he gets, seemingly is bigger than the last. Tongrongou has violent hands at the line of scrimmage, and some footwork that leans towards the better players in the state.
A name many may not have heard yet I’ve been a supporter of his since last December when his coach sent me film, I knew then that we had a power five caliber DE on our hands, and now the rest of the country is seeing it. While Tongrongou’s footwork and hands are ++, his quickness can’t be ignored either.
Tongrongou is ranked 62nd in our 2022 rankings and holds offers from Virginia Tech, UConn, Oregon, Coastal Carolina, UMass, West Virginia, East Carolina, Wake Forest, Duke, ODU, and Boston College.
2022 Woodside (Newport News) LB Koa Naotala
The third of three Naotala brothers, Koa may be the best of the bunch as he has a very high motor, and has some good hands at linebacker. While he wasn’t in our initial 2022 rankings, I would expect Naotala to creep into them when we update the rankings later this season. Naotala plays hard and is quicker than some may realize. With his brother Seth playing at JMU, that could be a spot to watch for Koa, and he and Seth talk frequently.
Naotala does not have any offers yet, but there is interest from schools.
2022 King’s Fork (Suffolk) DE Kyree Moyston Kyree Moyston 6'6" | 215 lbs | DL King's Fork | 2022 State VA
Moyston is going to be a great get for a college. He is fast, has some good moves, good footwork, and a tall frame that he can build on. Impressive in drills and one-on-ones, Moyston has a good showing last weekend to back up his offers.
Currently ranked 15th in our 2022 rankings, Moyston should move up. Currently, he has offers from Michigan State, Marshall, West Virginia, Washington State, Florida International, East Carolina, Pitt, Indiana, Arizona State, ODU, Arizona, Coastal Carolina, Liberty, Toledo, Kansas, and Virginia Tech.
Stay tuned for our top performers from the 2023 and 2024 classes coming out soon.
